Seems a pretty subtle color change...from "black and yellow" in December's last batch of 2015, to "plum and yellow" in this release. Would you be able to throw up a photo of the two side-by-side by any chance?

(Wondering because I just saw one of these in a local store, but there were no other models newer than 2015 issues there....but I don't know which version I saw....'cause I didn't know there might be such a subtle color change....)

Dave, I have some different numbers from your last batches. I have these in hand, and the numbers on the package are different for:
Ground Grabber is 45
Blizzard Buster is 104

Also, I did not get a mountain mover in my shipment, but could have been missed by KK.
Thank you for doing these lists.

The Mountain Mover only appeared in 1 assortment. It does appear some people may be missing it due to receiving the models in the following assortments. Also, I must have mis-read the number for those 2 models. You are right, and I have adjusted their numbers now.

By the way I have also updated to include the larger batch F assortment. It is nice to have half the assortment being all new. With 4 of the models being duplicated (the new castings, which are all licensed this time) it actually means that 2/3rds of the box is all new (in US 24-car assortments).

Well it turned out I missed what were possibly the 3 best models in the mix yesterday in my haste to list them down. The MB2 Ford Transit debuts in a really cool black, the Alfa Romeo 4C is back in white looking gorgeous, and the Scraper has appeared in the ongoing National Parks livery. Woohoo!

Well after a bit of a gap, I have finally updated things again. I never had a chance to update with batch H last month, and now batch J is starting to hit, I have added them both to the list.

I found "batch G" (more or less?) in a Fred Meyer store in the US Pacific NW, in the latest (for here) release of the boxed Power Grabs. The 3 models you mentioned were included in the PG display.....but.....

The Alfa Romeo 4C in the box (and box art) is charcoal gray. Was the Alfa being released in two colors this year?

raided a pallet in Walmart while on vacation in Maryland. saw a 24ct box on it and grabbed it. of the 24 there were 21 different ones in it. 3 doubles. 9 of the 11 in batch H and all 10 of Batch J, and 2 Batch G holdovers. I now can see why I can never find MB on the pegs anymore. Unless you hit it exactly right you cannot find anything new. Especially if 21 of the 24 are all different. a 24 count case is ridiculous. they need to go back to 48 or 72 count cases.

PS: pegged the three doubles. went back today, they were gone. so there's definitely a demand for the product...

I think that the charcoal gray Alfa is actually a 2015 recolor. It's listed by David Tilley in the last batch for 2015 and we know that it debuted last year in red.

I too thought that it was a 2016 model when I purchased the boxed Power Grab version earlier this year. However I noticed that there was no number printed on the box unlike most of that assortment. Then I remembered that this is typical of Mattel -- when a late model from the prior year is released in new packaging, they sometimes omit the number on the blister card.

Ah, thanks, Chris! I missed the missing number on the end flap, which is a clue. And I didn't think to look all the way back to 2015 to see the gray one. Maybe it would help if I would catalog my purchases right after I bring them into the house.....then I might know if I already had a color vary or a duplicate.

Guess it's just another way the Matchbox team works to keep us guessing.....and therefore hungry.....

I have added batch K to the list. It has been pointed out there is an orange MB18 Whiplash floating about that is not on the list. I am trying to figure out where it goes. It was either a late addition to batch E or F I think (and then only lasted the rest of that batch), but once I know I will add it in.

I have now updated with batch L. Only one more batch to go and this lot is done. I have also added in the Whiplash model. It is proving to be quite tough to find so good luck in tracking it down if you are a completeist like me.

And now I have finished the 2016 list completely. Next up I will begin the 2017 listing when they start appearing.

Another thing, for the first time in years, the range has finished when it is supposed to. All 125 models have been released during the 2016 release year.
