More like American LaFrance.....
Posted Image
Green and yellow recently acquired through ebay....(are there other known colors of these tillered aerials?)

Posted Image
In the colors of the season....

One of my favorite Tomicas of all time.....but I only had the red one then....
Posted Image

The red one was lettered for San Diego Fire Dept....my recollection from childhood is that San Diego ran Seagrave apparatus back then (in the 50s....so maybe they upgraded to ALFCo by the time these were produced, after my family moved north...)
Posted Image

Posted Image

The yellow one is lettered for LA County Fire Dept.....but all the years I lived in LA County, the apparatus was red, red and more red. LA City, on the other hand, had yellow apparatus (Crown Coach) at the airport (LAX).
Posted Image

Posted Image

But we mustn't quit with only the tillered ladders....Tomica also released the smaller ALFCo "rearmount" turntable aerials in their Pocket Cars series....
Posted Image

I only have two colors of this....but I suspect Tomica may have released a color or two more.....though I can't recall seeing any....
Posted Image

Posted Image
Ah, the good ol' days of diecast that actually had more than 4 parts.....

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image
I like how Tomy often put the model number on the license plates

Posted Image

While my original intent was just to show these ALFCo models, since there are already French and German threads devoted to Tomica's vehicles representing those countries, why not expand this thread to include Tomica's American automobiles? (I have very few that aren't "emergency vehicles"....)

I'll toss in a couple other American makes from my emergency collection:
Posted Image
Tomica called this a "Chevrolet Chevyvan".....permanently cast into the base.....so, I guess that's what it is....

Posted Image
The license plate denotes it is Tomica number "-022" (aka F22 in the Pocket Car series....)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Since this first post is taking up a lot of real estate, I'm gonna break it here and start anew below.....feel free to contribute your Tomica models of American cars and trucks, too!

Dodge Coronet Custom, F8, 9, 10 or 18 (take your pick....all 4 are listed on the base of this one)

This is the only fire dept version I can think of (certainly the only one I have)....were there variations of this in Fire Dept deco?

I finally got one of the police versions, and I know there are at least 3 or 4 more variations on this:

Posted Image
I really like the lights on the roof of this one.....but also the "Dodge" on the plates front and rear.

Cool Blair, I was thinking of starting an American car thread, so I'm glad you did, I got a few for sure, but don't think I have a lot of pics yet.

Thanks, folks! And thank you, Hobie-wan for reminding me of the Superior Cadillac ambulance....I found these 3 more emergency Tomys because of that reminder....

The Chevyvan in two other liveries....

and the other sides of each:

And I love how 'love-worn' your Caddy ambulance is....here's what it looked like new:

Not to brag...it was just a practical matter. I wore out most of my Matchbox emergency vehicles (and all other civilian cars/trucks) playing with them in the back yard, but when I found a Tomica casting at the local toy shop (which carried the entire line in those days, in southern California), I already recognized how special they were and while they got some play time, I mostly kept them out of harm's way. My Caddy's Pocket Cars blister is long since gone....but you can see it stayed in a carry case for these 40 years.

I also found my Winnebago, in very similar condition to yours....but I found mine at a flea market a few years back. I'll have to dig in some boxes in a closet to see if I can find the rest of my civilian Tomys....pretty sure I have a couple more American cars and maybe a truck or two hidden away.

That Greyhound bus is one I wish I bought when it was fresh! I used to have no problem imagining myself going inside, just looking through the windows at those detailed interiors.

Here are some more from the USA,

I tried not to duplicate what others have already shown, but I wasn't sure on some if they were variations from what I had, I see a couple that are.

I decided to include the boxes I had as well....I just enjoy having them when I run across a model that still has it, and like to see pics of them, hope other folks are liking them added.

Ok, I don't know if the boat & trailer actually represent a US make, but it looks good on the Chevy truck. :P
Posted Image

The set below is one I was lucky enough to get a pretty good deal on, but unfortunately I was informed later,(by someone on another board), that the Cadillac police is wrong for this set, this was the standard single issue, whereas the set exclusive was like one he actually had, I saved his pic, but don't know in which album I saved it.
Doesn't really hurt though, those Caddy police cars are all hard to come by I think, at least the only one I have. :D
But the good news is he did say that green Lincoln was pretty rare.

I like how the box for the Ford gas tankers calls them "Lorry", a rather British designator, while the other 'trucks' are called 'truck'.....

More cool stuff and now I know what to properly call the heavy duty wrecker.
