Thanks to the Administrators and Moderators of Swifty's Garage we now have a Tomica database! http://swiftysgarage.net/forum/3073134/

I am in the process of transferring and uploading my checklists and other pertinent Tomica information.

This is a work in progress, so please give me time to get everything situated.

As much Tomica as possible will be covered, in one way or another.

Member contributions will be welcome.

No doubt an excellent addition to the existing databases!

Thanks goes out to the respective staff for creating the databases, and to Michael for his contributions so far!

Looking forward to contributing and watching the database grow!

I already have a shelf cleared out and filled with my rather small Tomica collection, so I'm ready.

UPDATE - FYI...

A little background information.

The main reason for this addition of a Tomica database to Swifty's is that the Tomica Fan Club forum will soon be closing.

I wasn't exactly sure if it would be happening, but I knew there was a good chance of it, so a little over a week ago I contacted some of the Admin and Moderators here at Swifty's. As of yesterday it has been confirmed by the Admin of TFC that the site will close in February:
Starscream

** Attention to All **

Tomica Fan Club (TFC) had served its purpose and would be closed on 18 February 2016.

Changes and developments to miniature diecast collecting as a whole, coupled with decline in activity and etc., brought us to an appropriate juncture to cease operating as a forum site. It is hoped, whether as founder member, contributor, member or guests, that this platform had given you a positive experience.

Adios!

I was a founding member, and have been a moderator at TFC since the beginning in 2008. Along with a few other people, we created the TFC database. As time went by I was the only person that maintained and updated the database.

I knew that the future of TFC was in doubt and wanted to do something to preserve what we created, but I wasn't sure exactly what to do. The Admin at TFC gave me the okay to do whatever I wanted with any info that I could retrieve. For whatever reason, I didn't think of moving it here to Swifty's until two weeks ago, and that is where we are at now.

Most of the TFC forum will be lost forever, however I will be able to transfer most of the pertinent information from the database over to Swifty's.
It's going to take some time, so please be patient with me.
I think we'll all be happy with the results in the end.

That's sad that it will be closing, but if the reference data can be saved at least that's good.

Thanks Michael! I know TFC was a valuable resource, and whatever can be transferred will be welcome. At some point very soon, I will get all of my Tomica and Tomica Limited Vintage photographed to be added, and hope everyone else does the same to make the most of it!

Thanks guys. I still have several lists I need to transfer before I even have a chance to add photos... and will need to figure out the best way to organize the forum part of the database. I'm thinking sub-forums like in the Yat Ming database...?

That seems reasonable. Lets see, Regular, TL, TLV, then Other for assorted pull backs, frictions, and windups?

Something along those lines should suffice to start out with.

I did want to take a moment and say:

THANK YOU!

It was in your power to let the information pass into internet oblivion, but you chose to share the information here. That is a very generous gesture, and one I'm sure many Tomica fans will appreciate for some time to come. I'm glad Sean had this place at the ready, and I'm glad you chose to host the info here. Once again, Thank You!

Thanks for all the comments and support.

To keep everyone informed, here's a brief update on the transfer of data...

Between being just plain busy and sick, I haven't had much spare time to transfer any data.
I'm feeling better now so hopefully that will change & I'll get more info moved over soon.

Depending on the actual source of the data I've transfer so far, some lists may not be 100% up to date, but that will be fixed after I get the bulk of all the databases uploaded.
Move the foundation first and I can tweek it later.

Once I'm done with that I'll begin the process of uploading photos.

Everyone is welcome to help with photos, but for the time being I would appreciate if people could hold off on adding photos until I get caught up with the bulk of the data transfer and we get some sub-forums in place (if possible). ^_^
