Today's car of the day is Oversteer's 2015 Mazda Atenza (Mazda 6) Wagon

Wikipedia

The Mazda6 or Mazda 6 (known as the Mazda Atenza in China and Japan) is a large family car produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda since 2002. It replaced the long-serving Mazda Capella (616, 626) in 1977. The Mazda6 has sold over one million units worldwide since its introduction, hitting this sales milestone faster than all previous Mazdas.

The Mazda6 was the first example of the company's new Stylish, Insightful, and Spirited design philosophy followed by the Mazda2 in December 2002, the RX-8 in August 2003, the Mazda3 in January 2004, the Mazda5 in the summer of 2005, the MX-5 in October 2005, and the Mazda CX-7 in November 2006. The 2003 Mazda6 is essentially the 6th generation Mazda 626 as the Mazda6 continues on the G-platform, progressing from the GF-platform 626/Capella to the GG-platform Mazda6., length 192.7 width 72.4 wheelbase 111.4 height 57.5

Oversteer is really on a roll with their recent offerings of current Mazda products, and this Mazda 6 Wagon is no exception.

Wikipedia

The third generation Mazda6 was unveiled during Moscow International Motor Show in late August 2012. In this generation, there are only 4-door sedan and 5-door station wagon versions available.

The Wagon is no longer offered in the North American market due to low demand for wagon models. Mazda is not alone in pulling their wagon variants from the North American market, as Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz have removed at least some or all of their wagon models from their North American lineup.

Its design has been extremely well-received, and was a finalist in the "2013 World Design Of The Year".

Wow! Honestly those are some of the nicest wheels I have ever seen on a piece of die cast. The details are gorgeous, love being able to see the brake disc thru the wheel. Very very nice model

I am an unabashed longroof fan. This car is drop-dead gorgeous. It's a station wagon that kids wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen in! That thing looks like it's doing about 80 just sitting there. I don't care for Ford products and I know that Ford has a controlling interest in Mazda, but I'd seriously consider one of these wagons if I were looking for a car.

I agree, this is a gorgeous car. I used to have a first generation Mazda 6, and in that case I think the sedan looked much better than the wagon, but this generation it's wagon all the way for me. It's a shame they don't sell it here now though. As for Ford, they sold their controlling interest in Mazda a few years ago and now only own about 2% of it. There is still a lot of leftover parts sharing, but more and more they are becoming a separate company.

Good to hear about Ford cutting Mazda loose. I gave up my "new car" magazine subscriptions about a decade ago so I'm behind on who owns what. They don't sell this car here? Buzzkill! If I were in the market, could I go up to Canada and get one?
