![]() Gibbs was a brand I was unfamiliar only a few weeks ago. I scored this 1/80 ish scale model at the Gateway Farm Toy Show held in St. Louis. It's quite small and the interior is molded into the metal base which is painted white. It has plastic like wheels and what appears to be brass axles which are high quality. The base simply reads 'Gibbs' and 'USA' which would lead me to believe this was made in the USA in perhaps the 1960s or 1970s. It was on the same dealer's table that I bought the EFSI '65 Ford Transit for which I ran for Van of the Day : February 15, 2016. It was too cool to pass up for the price I paid so I took a chance on it.

This one is from the '60's. It comes out of the "Mercury-Gibbs-Lit'l Toy Family" of mostly construction type models. Jim Reid (fucumi) has a pretty nice collection of these (and most of the ones that I once had). I am thinking the red is a harder color to find - I had a light blue version of this pickup with white wheels - much like the actual Chevy it portrays. You got a very good buy on this one! |

I normally try to steer clear of diecast which does not at least have a windshield, but this would have tempted me... |
