Today's car of the day is Golden Wheel's 1998 Mercedes-Benz ML320.

Wikipedia

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class, renamed GLE-Class in 2015, is a mid-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLK-Class (based on the C-Class) and the larger GL-Class with which it shares platforms. Mercedes-Benz launched the first generation W163 series M-Class on February 19, 1997, in the United States for the 1998 model year, with sales beginning that September. It is a mid-sized body-on-frame SUV with seating for five, or seven with an optional third-row seat. The M-Class was the first luxury SUV to feature electronic stability control, a system designed to detect loss of control and instantaneously intervene with selective braking to bring the vehicle back on its intended course. Furthermore, the M-Class boasted front- and side-impact airbags with advanced occupant detection for the front passenger seat, which, helped earn the W163 the highest marks in insurance industry crash tests.

This Mercedes comes from a time in Golden Wheel history when the brand name and even the company website was casting into the bases of the vehicles. I like the model well enough, but really like the road service livery on this release. If I could get Ivantt's "your diecast needs a wheel swap" app to work and give this one a wheel change to something more subdued, this model would really shine.

Wikipedia

Manufactured in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in the United States, the M-Class launched in the North American market first as the ML 320. The ML 320 was sold internationally, with the "320" suffix alluding to the 3.2-litre V6 engine. An entry-level, manual transmission-only ML 230, fitted with a 2.3-litre inline-four was available in Europe from launch in March 1998 until 2000. From launch in 1998, European markets also received the ML 270 CDI with a 2.7-litre inline-five turbodiesel engine. This unit was made available in Australia in 2000 and continued on in the W163 until being replaced upon the release of the W164 M-Class in 2005. Later, in 1998, the more powerful ML 430 became available with the newly introduced Mercedes-Benz 4.3-litre V8. This was followed by the February 1999 debut of the 2000 ML 55 AMG, featuring a 5.4-litre V8 engine made by AMG, modified bodywork, and other performance features.

A nice little casting from Golden Wheels. I like the detail trim to the front and back for a low end diecast piece.

Drive it like you stole it!
Very odd wheels this one has, what surprised me most was the rear view mirrors are detailed in silver. Pretty cool!

Was this one of the 2-for-1 Dollar General "Time for Play" models back in the day?

Looks great! Too bad Golden Wheel didn't last long. Very few, except for the Motor Maxes that were sold with them could equal this at 50 cents new. I have a handful (American LaFrance fire engine (copy of Majorette), ambulance (copy of HW's old Chevy Type III), and four Crown Vic Police Cars (came in a book set and are a fire chief, EMS Supervisor, Police and Hazmat).

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I like the livery but I'd also consider doing an upgrade custom. Potential, potential!
