Today's car of the day is Top Mark's 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL550.

Wikipedia

The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is a full-size luxury SUV produced by the German car maker Mercedes-Benz since 2006. It is a three-row, seven-passenger vehicle positioned above the M-Class/GLE-Class in the lineup and is the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz SUV line. The GL shares the same unibody architecture with the M-Class. The vast majority of GL-Class vehicles are assembled at Mercedes-Benz US International, Inc, in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama except for a small number of early production 2007 model vehicles which were manufactured in Germany. The GL lacks the typical SUV boxy styling and body-on-frame construction of the G-Class in favor of an elongated and widened version of the M-Class's unibody architecture. The GL has much more luxurious equipment and better road manners than the civilian G-Class vehicles. Although the GL-Class is designed for the US market, it is also sold in Europe, albeit in far smaller numbers.

Top Mark is a new brand from China, which I only discovered earlier this year. The models are all licensed, with seven different auto brands represented so far. The bases have the "Top Mark" logo and the vehicle name. I had to source these from online, and get them shipped in a blind box from China, so I didn't know what exactly would be included. Each car is packaged in a small orange window box, and the model quality is comparable to Maisto, back when they still had interiors. The cars are light-weight with some casting imperfections, but very well proportioned and pretty nicely detailed for being toys. I want to place a second order to see if I can add more of an assortment, but the person I bought from no longer has them available. As for the GL-Class Mercedes, I was thrilled to learn that Majorette would finally be bringing the GL to small scale after years of nobody else bothering with it, and then I find this one, as well. And as it turns out, the Majorette is the second-generation, while the Top Mark represents the first generation, so both are unique offerings in small scale. This is the kind of thing that fuels my passion for collecting, even more than Treasure Hunts and chase cars!

Standard features on the Mercedes-Benz GL350 BlueTec and GL450 include air conditioning with dual-zone climate controls, interior air filter, tilt/telescopic premium leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, cruise control, heated 8-way power front seats, 6-disc CD changer, outside-temperature indicator, and universal garage door opener. 19" 5-spoke wheels come standard with all-season tires and new chrome beltline, window trim, and roof rails also now come standard. A chrome loadsill and front and rear chrome looking skid plates come standard. The GL also comes with Airmatic suspension, a 3D instrument cluster, and 7-way seating with power 50/50 folding third row seats. Standard on the Mercedes GL550 but optional for the lower trims include a power tilt/telescopic wood/leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls (replacing tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls), leather upholstery, memory system, power liftgate, premium sound system, navigation system w/voice recognition, rear radio controls, rearview camera, and heated rear seats.

Drive it like you stole it!
For an upstart Diecast company, Top Mark is hitting it out of the park!

 Wow! That is one sharp looking Mercedes Benz! I would say Top Mark has hit the "mark" and I offering some nice models. Probably a good thing I don't collect everything these days.

Vehicle looks good, but those are some terrible rubber band tires. The wheel part looks good, but needs to not be 95% of the whole shebang. It looks like it is rolling on bare rims.

The brand failed to invest in various wheel designs. This same wheel is used on their exotic sports cars and Range Rover SUVs. Maybe if the company does well, they can expand their wheel lineup in the future.

Really don't see that as too much as a surprise...take Tiny, for example, same thing. Not too surprising from a upstart company, but I really like what I am seeing from the brand.

Looking forward to more vehicles from the brand, definitely another mark I need to look at adding to my collection! Thanks for showing.
