![]() Today's car of the day is Schuco's 1970 Mercedes-Benz 250 CE. ![]()
![]() For more information and pictures of the real car please visit: Mercedes-Benz 250 CE ![]() ![]() I acquired this somewhat playworn Schuco model in a small lot last year, and despite the flaws, I really like the casting. Following the saying "condition only matters if you have one already," I was happy to add this, since it now is the only one I have. ![]() ![]()

Schuco made many nice 1/66th scale models back in the early '70's. Even play worn they are very nice pieces - so many players back then that are, in many ways long gone - such as Polistil and Schuco and others. Yeah, the names are still out there but not the little cars such as these.

Nice looking model. Not sure if I ever saw one of these before. Schuco is usually pretty good. Interesting amount of detail on the headlights.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
|
Good one. Castings like this I look for and tuck away to preserve as is, or clean up and save it as a resto-mod. Finding them and then getting them at a decent price (even if they are beaters) is another matter. Swap meets in Germany must be a lot of fun! |

I'd like to find out! I like vintage European stuff, and wonder if being in Germany or some other toy-crazy European country would make collecting these models less interesting. Here in the US, it's like finding four leaf clovers. There, it would be more common. The exotic becomes ordinary. Who Knows? |
