Today's car of the day is Top Mark's 2014 Jaguar F-Type Convertible.

Wikipedia

The Jaguar F-Type is a two-seat sports car, based on a shortened platform of the XK convertible, manufactured by Jaguar since 2013. It is the spiritual successor to the famous E-Type. It is also the replacement for the Jaguar XK. The car was launched initially as a soft-top convertible, later with a coupe version launched in 2013. The F-Type uses an all-aluminum chassis, sound and vibration insulation is provided by the addition of a special underbody tray and engine mounts, and a double bulkhead between the engine bay and passenger compartment. The convertible roof is an electrically operated retractable fabric hood. Jaguar says by eschewing metal it can keep the car's center of gravity low, while a Thinsulate layer means thermal and sound insulation is akin to a solid roof.

For anyone keeping notes, this is the second Top Mark diecast featured for Car Of The Day, with the first being two weeks ago, with the Mercedes-Benz GL550. The wheels on this Jaguar are the same style as was on the Mercedes, but smaller in diameter, and I suspect they will generate similar observations on the lack of substantial sidewall, however maybe it is more acceptable on a sports car versus an SUV. The F-Type coupe is now available from Matchbox and Majorette (if you can find them...I haven't been able to get either yet), and the F-Type Project 7 has been released by Hot Wheels. The F-Type is proving to be fairly popular so far with small scale makers, and I wonder if other brands will also jump on board.

Wikipedia

The entry-level model uses Jaguar's new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine, producing 335 hp, 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 5.1 seconds, and a top speed of 161 mph (259 km/h). In the middle comes the F-TYPE S, with the same engine tuned for 375 hp, a top speed of 171 mph (275 km/h), and 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. The top of the range model is the V8 S, with Jaguar's 5.0-litre, 488 hp supercharged petrol engine. The layout is front-engine, rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic with paddle-shifters offering manual override.

:petkitty: I like! A very nice Jaguar model from Top Mark of the F-Type convertible! While the wheels are a bit funky the overall car is very nicely done. It is one I would not mind adding to my collection of Jags (yes, one of the cars I still collect in addition to the emergency vehicles). I, too, have yet to find the Matchbox or Hot Wheels new Jags. Have found the Project 7. :petkitty:

Drive it like you stole it!
Well done, but the rear wheels just don't sit right.

I like this. A lot. The real car looks great in person, so my interest in the vehicle (and their small-scale counterparts) has heightened.

With that said, a wheel swap could be in order- but the detail is very nice- and I dare to even say I like this one a lot more than the HW Project 7.

The wheels don't really bother me since they look so much like Hot Wheels wheels, I guess I've grown accustomed to them, but do agree they would look better with more appropriate and fitting rubber. Thanks for running this one Dean, it's one I'll have to track down soon. Objectively the hard top F Type is better looking, but if I had the money for a real one, I'd be getting the convertible, there is just something about a Jaguar convertible that always gets me, and I'm glad to see someone make one in this scale.
