For this year anyway. We had a great turnout for the event this time around, many of the familiar faces, as well as quite a few new ones! The day was filled with cruising the tables, checking out all the goods , gravity, and banger racing that was almost nonstop, giveaways, raffles, and just a general good time! Thanks to everyone that attended, and special thanks to Mac Ragan and Round 2, Sean and M2, and GreenLight for your support of our event! Hopefully many pictures will follow! |

I had a lot of fun as usual at this year's event. Also as usual, I spent too much money and don't regret it a bit! What I DO regret is leaving in such an all-fired hurry around 2:30 Saturday afternoon without being able to take the time to properly say goodbye to my friends, most of whom I only get to see at the CARnival. The reason was this: I had plans to take my dad to the Reading Fightin' Phils Minor League (Phillies AA-level) game that evening, and had just gotten word that he had to be there about an hour before game time (5:05 for a 6:05 game) because they asked him to sing the National Anthem before the game. Due to his age he doesn't get around too well so we were going to take his wheelchair to make things easier for him.Anyhow, my folks live about 25 miles from Denver, and the stadium is about 30 miles from where they live. Then we also had to factor in the time it would take to make sure my mom was properly set up and comfortable for the evening. Anyhow, I got there in plenty of time and we made it to Reading with a few minutes to spare. Dad sang great; there were people coming up to compliment him all through the game and afterwards. To top it off, the Fightins beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4-3 in 11 innings on a first-pitch-of-the-inning, walk off home run in the bottom of the 11th. So, anyone who missed me on Saturday afternoon, I apologize for my hasty departure. Rick, it was great spending time with you Friday night. Jason, I hope that Firebird Funny Car cleaned up in the race, and thanks again for the knife! Steve, that's a heck of a kid you got there! Mark, I really wanted to take the time to sit and talk, get to know you better... maybe next year. Sean, I'll try to take the Banger racing more seriously next year... Maybe stick a cherry bomb in that plastic ambulance? And, for anyone who's wondering, I told Rose about her winning the Event Car race. She paid for her car and the entry fee out of the winnings, gave me a chunk of the prize money for "sponsorship", pocketed $5 and put her winning car on display. She got a good laugh out of winning her first-ever CARnival event when she wasn't even there! On that subject, it felt great for me to win MY first-ever race, this years "Rip 'n' Race", after coming so close in last year's main event - lost by a fender in the semi-finals (and then Rose lost by a fender in the finals!)

My dad and I are both home safe and sound. No more wildlife encounters on the way home, fortunately. Had a great time and am looking forward to next year! Hopefully I will get some find pictures posted this week. |
