These light bars looked very out of place on this JL Chevelle and this police cruizer with no light bars looked a bit odd to me... I removed the bars from the Chevelle, puttied in the holes in the top and repainted it black. Removed the police tampos from the doors also. Now both cars look more normal to me... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Like most toy companies JL did not always use the correct light bars/roof lights on police issues (or for that matter appropriate cars for police issues). I know some CHP cars are slick tops so that one would be ok - but it does look sharp with the light bar you added. |

Thanks guys... I had a heck of a time filling the holes in the chevelle. I must have applied 4 or 5 cotes of J~B Quick... Each time I sanded it and painted it, when the paint dried you could see where the holes were. Last try was a charm, I put the paint on as thick as honey...LOL |

lots of CHP & L.A PD ones didn't have lightbars the really really early ones only had flashing red lights & yellows on the rear but what you did looks great & it does look better |

I like the switcheroo- but liked the "highway patrol" slick top as well. it was a little before my time when they only had the solid red lights, but I can remember seeing all those episodes when they would cut to all the other chippies- whose names I forget and they would chime in "Get 'em Ponch" I know most of the actual Beat the Heat cars do have lightbars- which I think is a nice touch, although of course the lightbars on the models don't necessarily match the real deal. I've had a couple slicks myself, and I like that they force you to take it easy, rollin' code (if you're smart) and people would do dumb things right in front of you because they didn't see a lightbar... sometimes it's more work than it's worth though, just to look cool. I've never tried to fill in holes with the j-b quick. might have to pick your brain on the proper technique. Edited by diomakr, May 17 2016, 11:14 PM.

Would that series happened to be "Chips" with Eric Estrada? By the way great work on the transplant. You have the skill of a car surgeon.
