Racing Set - unusual

Years ago a friend discovered the small unassuming box shown below in a basket at a flea market we were at,
fortunately for me he wasn't really into Tomica in those years.

I posted these on another board before, but don't think I ever got a definite thought of where they came from as far as
what set or how they were sold, but I do believe someone recalled an old racing set that came with what he thought was 12
models instead of 6, so I guess it is possible this represents only half the original set, but I don't know for sure.

Some models looked like other regular issues, but it seemed when I was comparing photos I'd seen
these appeared to be somewhat different in tampos, so possibly all exclusives.

 Wow! I can't answer your question but can say that is one awesome set of cars. While not a Tomica expert I can't say I have seen those particular boxes either.

Oh Wow! Not only a picture, but the name of the gift set too! :bowing: Thank you very much for finding this information and cool photo, which I'm going to save if you don't mind.

Had no idea it was that old, I always suspected the early to mid 1990's.

Now I fear I should have looked around more at the flea market booth and in that basket where the box of models were found to see if that display was there, oh well, but I think I would have noticed had I seen the Tomy name or logo on anything.

Thanks again

Thanks everyone! Always thought the set was cool too, and always hoped to learn more about it, now I have thanks to Sopikey.

Hobie the rubber bands have been removed, thanks for the reminder, I always forget how they dry up and stick to everything on the model.
