Thought I would ask if anyone else is kind of disappointed with the re-release of Johnny Lightning. Now I was a die hard JL fan back in the day and I still have over 300 JLs. My gripe is I'm not paying $6 for a re-issue of a not so sought after car. The pegs are full around here with the Riveras and Furys. They are simply not selling. If they could go to a similar package like Hot Wheels instead of that huge plastic trap they use now it could probably save a few bucks. It seems to me the packaging may be driving up the price. This is just my opinion and not meant to step on any toes. :D

You're right. I feel the same way. I'm kind of a stock purist, but there are others who like the custom stuff. Plus with Greenlight and Auto World rubbing shoulders on the pegs, it's a tough sell.

Too much money I agree. Rather have the Auto World releases.

JL commented here that the clam shell adds only 25 cents to the cost. I'll buy the ones I like and if they're $8, so be it. Nearly every car in REL 2 looks like a winner so save your money.

Maybe and probably it is just me...but I have finally gotten to see some of the "new" JL models on the pegs and to me they simply look like re-issues of the older stuff with maybe a minor change or two. Same with the Racing Champions that are back out there - to me neither are worth the higher cost - especially when compared with Auto World, GreenLight and M2 issues.

They have them here and they aren't moving. I bought a Galaxie with flames and it sucked. Wish they would keep them with original colors and less flames.

I don't have too many yet, and I'm not a big fan of all the releases so far, but I'm very happy with the ones I do have. I'm thrilled to see 'em again. especially all the ones I missed over the years, and I figure I've already got enough to open a JL museum- at least a roadside attraction. i'll admit $6 is a stretch, and I would be hard pressed to drop that for plastic wheels on any. I sure hope they can compete.

I'm not uphappy with the recent reissues. I could have had these about 15 years ago for 1/2 the price. But I didn't. I look at this as a second chance to get some of the cars I wanted to have back then. I prefer AW because the scale is more accurate, but I don't see them going out of their way to tool a car that is already sold by JL.

I'll agree on the cost being prohibitive; I'm only buying the ones I "gotta have". Thats been six so far - the Cherokees, Catalinas, and Galaxies. But, like carhauler, release 2 looks a bit more intriguing to me as well.
