My $500 Crown Vic Story

So my Pop in 2002 bought this 96 Vic from the original owner ($3600).
Then he sells it to my brother-in-law ($2000).
Where upon my nephew gets it for his first car (free).
My nephew gives the Vic back to my Pop and $4000 cash for my Pop's 99 Mustang coupe ($1000).
A co-worker's step son needs first car, my Pop sells the Vic to him ($850).
I just bought it from him for $500. I now am the 6th owner/4th family member to own this guy!

Plans for now are a good wash/buff/wax, clean the engine bay and a full service (I have every repair/parts receipt since original owner).
For sure will put a stock dual exhaust as this is not a "Sport" or P71 model.
It's very clean underneath does have a few body areas to attend too and one missing trim piece.
Runs and drives very well and has AC!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!

Thanks guys.

microbuss.....You funny man! I'm going to add a kill switch as the Club is really only good to keep the armature thief at bay.

funeralxempire.....That is so cool!!

daniel60.....I believe this body style, from 1992 was the switch from the 5.0 to the SOHC 4.6. This guy does have very nice get up and go. This 96 is also the first year for OBDII emissions.

GothicCarsUrban.....I do wish to add a spotlight to mine.....LOL

Glad you liked it. I might eventually have to replicate it when I feel confident enough to use a GL for a custom build.

Here's another idea I've seen done (all the same car):

I don't believe you, that looks to be in far too nice condition to be on its sixth owner. ;)

So I was digging through a parts box and low and behold I found the 3 caps for the lace wheels. My Pop must have given these to me to sell after he lost a second cap. I kept them. I went on E-Bay and found one in perfect shape for $20 shipped.
I'll get a new pic of the vic once I get them installed. Might give the wheels a coat of Argent silver too!

Support your local demo derby.

Sweet Vic and a great story on keeping the car in the family. My daily driver is a '96 Vic in light saddle metallic with over 135,000 miles. I inherited it from my grandmother after she bought it new in '96. I've replaced the ball joints, rear brake pads, distributor, intake manifold and bought a new set of tires so far in less of three years of owning it. I'm achieving in the low 20s for average fuel economy. Mine has an electronic dash. Keep yours on the road. Long live the full framers!

She drives like a dream! I'll for sure keep this running. I'm a little familiar with these 4.6 OHC engines from working on this when my Pop owned it plus working on my Pop's 98 Mustang GT.
I ordered new coil packs, wires and plugs. So different than driving those little Pony's....LOL

Be carefull of the single women, they look at men in 4 door cars as good family providers. :)
