This car was a rare entree to our 2016 MCA Western NY Mustang & Shelby Club's 3 day event held on the beautiful banks of the Niagara River.

Along with 425 cars entered from 29 states and 4 Canadian provinces, there were another 200+ Mustangs in our "Drivers Lot."

There was a concept Mustang fastback that somehow evaded the crusher and a restored 64 Mustang convertible, 1 of 12 from the NY Worlds Fair Magic Skyway exhibit.

I'd love to see Hot Wheels or Greenlight recreate this version of the car with their current casting offerings and real-rider type tires. I love the Fox body Mustangs!

There was a concept Mustang fastback that somehow evaded the crusher

Would that be the original fastback, or a later fastback concept?

The idea for a fastback originated with Joe Oros as well, and was designed in Charlie Phaneuf's studio. Haldeman recalls as follows:
We did it in secret. No one, including [Hal] Sperlich or Iacocca, saw it until it was finished. We cast it in fiberglass, painted it bright red, and then showed it to Iacocca. He said, "We've got to do it!"

Awesome. I've seen that car before, not in the flesh though. It reminds me a bit of the AMX.

You've maybe already read this before, but for anyone interested in the history of 'Shorty':

Oh wow! Does that car come every year? Either way, sounds like I need to make a stop to New York next year for a cruise. ;)

On a side note, Jack, my local Mustang club does a covered bridge cruise the last Sunday in October. If you'd like to get it on that, let me know (the sooner the better). We cap it at 100 cars.

Thanks for posting the pictures. The fastback concept looks to me like it has a European influence. I like them both.
