Hershey, PA Matchbox Toy Show - Have you been?; Looking for info before making the trip from NC

I've heard about the Hershey show here and there, it seems like a pretty big affair, and it's in a car museum to boot. I'm thinking about driving up there with my Dad (if he can get the weekend off work) and I'm wondering if it's worth the road trip. Has anyone here been before? How big is it? Good selection?

It's my only can't miss event of the year. It's excellent and as a bonus, admission to the museum is included with your (discounted!) entrance to the Matchbox show. So you get into the museum cheaper than you would on a normal day.

Here are some previous hauls from the show in question:

2011:

And finally, my personal favorite of the bunch:

2012:

Let's start with a Mercedes convertible. Nothing out of the ordinary about that...

Or is there? Could there be more than meets the eye? *Cue "Transformers" music*

It's the first Swap Tops to join my collection!

Some Matchbox interpretations of Japanese sports cars:

Should I mention the two Premieres in the back were $2 each? The two up front were...quite a bit more than that though.

The show model was the Ford Sierra:

A few shots of the overall line of cars:

Supras flanking a rare Brazilian Torino:

And finally the most expensive single car I purchased:

Apparently I haven't taken pictures since 2012. Oops! But suffice it to say there's a ton of variety, and it's not 'just' Matchbox.

Sweetening the pot further, I'm hosting a meeting of the Pennsylvania Matchbox Collectors Club on the Saturday before the show (the 24th) at noon. The meeting is open to non-members and I'll have the Keystone CARnival's banger racing track set-up as well.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm going to run it past my dad and see if he's up for the road trip.

Wow, what a lot of great finds there Swifty has found throughout his trips to this show, and I don't even remember ever seeing that Lesney Edition Police SUV before.

I'd never made the trip up there, but always wanted to, I know I'd been hearing about people excited to return to this show since around when I first visited the internet many years back.

I've been thinking about going. The one in April was decent and Swifty assures me it pales in comparison to the September show

Oh my, nice hauls!
A little bit of everything, i like it, but the Lesney Edition BMW caught my eye, for the simple reason that it is, along with the Caddy cnvt, the last two models i need to complete my Lesney Edition collection.
Because of cost of shipping, i did not buy them back then when they were new. Well, it has not become cheaper to buy and ship......regrets regrets....

Nice haul, Swifty. My dad wasn't too keen on sitting in a car for that long, so we settled for K-Day and the local Raleigh, NC toy show.
