Ran across my little bag of loose military Johnny Lightnings, pretty sure these first ones are all Lightning Brigade series issues, which I hadn't really collected when in stores, but I remember finding some at a yardsale for $1 each, so I selected a number of them for the collection. Would love to see others, I think they did offer a lot in the series. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This one below is a movie or TV show issue, which I'd never watched, but I thought this van was cool. ![]()

I mostly have the various military ambulances from this series and a couple of the Jeeps. It was a great series with some very nice looking models covering the WW II era. The tanker was lettered for Union 76 in the Forever 64 series. Glad you guys are liking this thread. John you say the series was WWII models, that makes sense as I wasn't sure of that late model tan Chevy PU belonging, it had no military markings but was a drab paint like one, I'm not sure what series it was from since I got it loose. |

Looking at Wyatt's site I see there was a Chevy Silverado pickup in release four of Lightning Brigade so guess not all of them were WWII era models. I know one set (Hickum Field) is tied in with Pearl Harbor.

Hickum field was the only full set I ever found on the pegs, and pricey as they were they all came home with me. All others I've picked up were one or two here and there...mostly aftermarket. Most of them were WWII (including a set of warbirds, very rare), but there were a few Persian Gulf / Desert Storm era issues as well, including two versions of the modern tank (one with dozer blade and one without). There was also a mailaway MASH style bus, also quite rare, I was fortunate to find here some time back. The Blair Witch van was from a movie tie-in. |

Thanks Wes - I had forgotten about the more modern tanks. On of my want list from this series is the ambulance casting for the Air Corp/US Army-Hickum Field |

My younger brother was a big military/WWII fan when we were growing up, so naturally my dad picked up these for him. Being only a car enthusiast, I bought the Silverado in the above pictures and the camo painted Tahoe. Thanks to Wyatt for the borrowed picture. I don't have any of my own.

Hey Jack - thanks for posting the pictures with the military backgrounds - really a neat way to display those models and remind us of a piece of our history and those who served! |
