Running in the 90's

On juantoo3's recommendation, I'm sharing one of my recent finds here. This is a 2 pack of 1984 Chrysler corp models with a scratch-off contest on the card. What's interesting is these are post-Lesney cars but they are made in England. IMG_0281 by Nova Peerless, on Flickr IMG_0282 by Nova Peerless, on Flickr

I just happened to be digging through my Dodge box this afternoon and stumbled on my copy of the red Daytona...and sure as day, Mbx Int'l and made in *England*. What's up with that? Anybody know? My other Daytona is made in Macau, and I have plenty of Lesney models made in Macau just prior to the sell to Universal. This is the first I've seen Universal issues made in England.

That's a great set, Congrats! I never knew a black Caravan was made in England, usually I only seen the burgundy. As far as Made In England, I forget the story with these particularly, but I do know Matchbox Int. did continue to produce some models in England for a couple years, but most Matchbox were moved to being made in Macau when they had taken over. I believe these 2 castings were initially offered as promotionals for the real vehicles, before being issued in the basic range. Hopefully somebody here can help with the details.

Like others I no longer remember all the background information but I know the first releases of these were made in England castings - I am wondering/thinking some of these were already in the "made" process from the factory in England before all the molds were moved to Macau.

I hope this works. If it does, this would be the first 15 variations from the MB128 Dodge Caravan listing of C.Falkensteiner. It does include some interior color differences and such. But, as you can (hopefully) see, they were all made in England, except during the black one time to be made, production was moving to Macau. After these 15, they were all made in Macau, and then Thailand.
