While having some dinner last night with friends at their house we got to talking diecast, I of course asked if he'd ever run across the new Matchbox Dodge A100, and the VW truck, since I can't find them on pegs. He said yes just the one set, and he's got them in auction right now, but he went and grabbed them out of his ebay room to let me at least see them in person. Next second he's online and says, Oh the auction has ended, and no bids, so here they're yours now.....I'm very blessed to have such friends I know. Anyway, once I got home and started to look at the Dodge, I noticed a familiar theme with it, at least these three have this theme which I guess is celebrating the diecast designer Michael Heraldo's 5000 model design since he's been with Mattel including both HWs and Matchbox. I'm not sure the significance of the #28 on each model.

28 years Doug, there's a white off road vehicle with the same look as the A-100 too and the gold Best of MB Routemaster is a tribute model as well. |

Cool subset and cool friend! I have the Scramblance but not the others - might have to consider getting the other two since they are a connected theme and related to Mike Heraldo's work at Matchbox!

The Quick Sander is part of the series, plus there's even a Hot Wheels that's gotten into the act:![]() I still need to pick up the Scrambulance and Tow Truck. I hope I'm not too late to find them.

Hello, I noticed the Scrumbulance has a big number 4 in its side, and the A-100 wearing number 2 as well. I can't make out what numbers have on the others, but also I wonder what those numbers mean too. |

I think you've discovered a trend here. The Quick Sander has a 3 on it:![]()

The tow truck has "1" on it. "Unit 1". |

That's really cool. Thanks! I was wondering what the Club 5000 meant on the side of the A100. |

The theme is also based on Heralda's first design - a Hot Wheels Ford Escort Rallye: |

Thanks Jim for the info on the 28 years and other models, and thanks RV also for the pics, interesting about the numbering 1 2 3 4, I unfortunately skipped that Quick Sander, and the Heroes London bus, and even remember seeing that recent HWs, now I might want to start hunting those. The good thing is that first design HWs Escort looks real familiar, I might actually still have that in a box somewhere. |
