Case variations Questions

So I have had the opportunity to open a few cases and even though the boxes has a number associated with case "E" the contents varies.

Example both of these boxes have the "974 E" code which designated the case as an "E" case but if you look in the lower right corner there are different numbers between the two. "0476A2" and "0346A1" One of these cases had the gray Dodge Charger and the other one different vehicle than the Charger. There were several other variances but I forgot to remember them.

Now to another set. Did you know that Dollar Tree receives it MB in different boxes than all the other retailers?

Notice the two different numbers on each on of these boxes? One box did not have the white Alfa or the Ford work truck, but the other one did. Strange.
Here is what the side of the box looks like.

Close up. The contents do not match the picture.

Yes, it is common for the box contents of MB and HW to vary by box, but overall they should be the same variety of castings. Meaning the hanger tab code on each blister card should match to the case code number.

I am not certain, but I understand that the dollar type stores break down (or buy opened lots) of HWs and MBs and ship them to stores in smaller count amounts (boxes) - usually several cases behind the big box stores in distribution. This year though they have seemed to be ahead of or at the same time as the US distribution though in my area.

What year are your MB cases from? Im used to seeing 36 count boxes. Did you get them locally, mail order, overseas?

Hi, I ordered once before a case from DG and I didn't realized that size of the box has a picture of them.

Your, right the picture doesn't match the content of all. Needless to say, never found the white Alfa in it and some of the blisters were damaged badly too.

However, it is nice to know how different codes varies the contents in the box within the same batch.

Thanks for bringing up these to our attention.

The first two boxes were from Dollar General and the second two from Dollar Tree.

I think Mattel-packed cases are only 24-count nowadays.....HW continues with 36 (72 for "international cases"), but Matchbox has reduced case contents to 24 models. (Perhaps Matchbox also has "international" case counts that are larger?)
