I have two of those from my childhood. Both of them are now in two pieces. I think it os from the beginning of 90's because I got it as new back then.

Like most bikes it is way out of scale - I think I still have one in my farm toys box - used it as part of my farm scene diorama because so many farmers/ranchers around here use three wheelers these days to check cattle and fences.

I think this one originally came with a rider. I have one somewhere on the train layout.

I thought 3-wheelers were obsolete or even outlawed due to safety issues (easy to overturn, lots of injuries to riders--children especially--and deaths). Of course, there are plenty of 3-wheeled motorcycles on the roads....but a different animal entirely. ^_^

Anyway, I believe I have a carded one of these somewhere and it has a rider.....after a quick house cleaning yesterday it's even more difficult to search the toy room....(short-notice houseguests in town for a surgery)....so I can't confirm it's a 3-wheeler with a rider.

They were, which is why we now have 4 wheelers instead.

I've never seen one of these with a rider, but honestly this is only the second one I've ever seen, and only the first I've had in my collection, haven't seen another since and I've had this one for years now.

I have seen and do have a MBX 4 wheeler, about half the size of this one, with a rider, issued not long after the year 2000.

Yes it is correct. This model never came with a rider. It only ever came like that. It was launched in 1985 as a US exclusive MB23. It last for 2 years unchanged, although the final production run moved from Macau to China. It was never seen again in the basic range. It was eventually used again though as a K-171 part in green on the back of a Toyota Hi-Lux. However, although this was not until 1991, production had moved back to Macau. This variant continued until 1994, and again at the end production moved to China.

So in all there are 2 releases both with the same 2 variations. A grand total of 4 models that could be had. I currently just have one each of the red and green.

May be true but farmers/ranchers are a frugal bunch and they will run equipment and stuff out on their farms until it ends up back of the barn or in the south forty as scrap. Just saw one old boy rounding up some cattle with his three wheeler the other day. Sadly even with the four wheelers there are way to many accidents and deaths. :(

Generally...I think farmers have a bit more common sense than typical "watch this!" city folk. Both the 3 and 4 wheelers were not intended to be racing machines, they were intended for putzing around the back 40. But knuckleheaded dolts with more money than brains started doing stupid things with them, and too many got hurt. The people that use them like they were intended strangely seem to do just fine...despite the gummint ban. It's all the idiots that need to be protected from themselves that brought about the litigation and legislation.

And they are probably the first ones on the phone to a lawyer to go after the manufacturer when they get hurt doing dangerous stunts.

Great model, I also have the red one, and hadn't seen another, and would like to add the green one someday, of course I'd like to have that Kingsize set it came with it too.
