This is and has been (like you can see on the condition of most of them) my favourite castings since my childhood. Because it is a very ordinary car with a stock style, it appeals to me. I found these variations amongst mine. I have not been hunting variations, I just have been getting these! All except the tampoless green and the silver one in the front are from my childhood. The mint-condition turquoise is restored, but the paint was way darker than the other turquoise also before the resto so it didn't spun as its own variation while restoring. The difference between the silver ones is also the wheels in addition to the tampo differences. Blue ones are a little different shade of blue within each other, and the other one doesn't have "Volvo" on the rear door. Between green ones there is also two different shades of green. If I remember right from my childhood, the silver was the first one I got, then greens and then turquoises. Blues are from the flea markets in my childhood so I don't know where they fit into that timeline, probably in the beginning? Colorwise, I have seen pics of at least an orange one, and would most certainly like to have one! Anyone else like this casting? Post yours!

Nice collection you accumulated there. This is a model I like too, though I probably only have one, but I also like the basic cars like family cars or everyday type cars, although prefer the obsolete styles like this over new modern vehicles.....Your custom looks really good!

This was a favorite of my childhood, as well. I blame Volvo's advertising, using crashed Volvos, for why my childhood versions ended up wrecked by hammers. I still have the wrecks (and pieces from the ones that fell apart) in a box, but here are the non-wrecked ones from my adult collection: *all have had lighting details added* blue with white interior and side mirrors ![]() blue with red interior and side mirrors ![]() silver with 3-spoke wheels ![]() silver with 8-dot wheels ![]() silver with tampo variation - black dashes ![]() silver with all-red tampo variation ![]() silver with "antar" tampo (a French petroleum company) ![]() green with silver stripe ![]() green with tampo variation - black dashes ![]() light green shade variation ![]() emerald - no tampos ![]() teal-blue with black interior ![]() teal-blue with white interior ![]() I have also seen pictures of the bright-orange version, but I've never seen one for sale. I imagine it must have been a very short production run, and thus a very hard one to find today. |

Very interesting variations Dean, I haven't seen blue with red interior or silver with all-red tampo before. Teal with white interior isn't something you would see often, too. |

I actually hadn't noticed that only the blue ones have side mirrors. |

Found this picture online. The upper case text versions I've seen online also have the text on the hood. This white interior version is now on my wishlist.![]() |

Did you also notice two different character types for Antar ? These ANTAR petroleum toycars were only available in this brand gas stations with a certain amount of gas points. There is also the Mercede 190E 16V in this range. The Volvo has three different castings, first issue with two side mirrors, and two others models with one or two mirrors. |
