 Very nice. This is a rescue version of the Matra casting that I don't have - not ever sure I recall seeing it before now. Thanks for sharing Patrick.

Is that a Bulgarian issue? I'm not all that familiar with the Matra from Matchbox, but I've been trying to collect the emergency-vehicle versions....and so far I've got two Bulgarian ambulances (and one civilian version from the 'regular' line).

Nice one. I have a few of this casting, but have not seen this variation before.

It's called Rancho instead of Ranchero btw.

Hi,

I think these were issued as part of a 3 pack in selected stores/supermarkets in UK/Australia.

You are correct. It was a part of the 3-pack that was sold in various European markets in 1996. It was also the last version made of the Rancho by Matchbox.

Originally the real vehicle was a Matra-Simca Rancho when launched, but when Simca was taken over by PSA in 1979, it became the Talbot Matra Rancho. A friend of our family had one in real life (in dark green) and my Mother really liked it. She tried talking my Father into buying one, but considering the type of vehicle it is, and the fact that Matchbox had a tow hook added to the back, we were a caravan family growing up and the towing capacity on the real vehicle was really poor. So we couldn't have one, as it would not be able to pull the caravan.

Daft story I know, but it came to me looking at this model again so thought I would share.
