For those in the PNW missing models from that batch (like I was until this morning), check your nearest Fred Meyer......they might even have the Buy One Get One Free promotion/in-store coupon special on Hot Wheels and Matchbox singles like they do here! I grabbed an F550 pumper (which I handed to my HW collecting friend, as we were quasi-running the same route today after our Sunday morning breakfast meet, and I knew he didn't have it yet while I have two), the red Food Truck, blue F350 Superlift Pumper in it's Arctic Recon livery, and the VW Transporter with the tire, tow chain, and tool/gear bag in the back. He got the other Transporter, sans gear in the back. So, I have successfully filled my Matchbox wish list up through batch K this year. Timing is everything, and my timing this morning was spot-on for Fred Meyer (if I had chosen not to go there after breakfast today, my buddy would have gotten them all!). Walmart, on the other hand, is lagging behind as usual. The other chains have most recently restocked batches from much earlier this year.....except for the WM that got K in the past few weeks. Still only one WM seems to have received batch J.....and no sign of that batch at any other chain to date. So, now I can relax, start catching up with household/yard chores, and forget about diecast until I start craving the '63 Caddy ambulance and wanting to see that Japanese sedan everyone seems so excited about......

I just noticed (my powers of observation have dimmed over the years, apparently) that the MB11 "Food Truck" is now 'officially' named "Matchbox V.A.N.", at least as far as the card says (still says "Food Truck" in the metal base). Anybody got any clue what the "V.A.N." stands for? (The periods are included in that label on the card.....so it must be an acronym for something?)

As far as acronyms, here are some possibilities I found for V.A.N..... but I don't think any of these apply. Value Added Network Valor Actual Neto (Spanish: Net Present Value) Valeur Actualisée Nette (French: Present Net Value; investing) View Available Network (Microsoft) |

Thanks, Doug. Maybe it's "Vittles And Numnums"; or "Vendor Ad Nauseam" (some food trucks might lead to nausea?); "Video At Nine".....(no, that would be the News Van).... "Vinegar And Nutella".....now there's a tasty combination! |
