Oh, another version of the Yat Gloria. If it becomes available, I'd be interested in it. |

![]() OMG!!! Where did you....nevermind. I have never seen a playset pairing with a Corgi and a HW original...seldom two models anyway, but when they are doubled up it is usually two of one or two of the other. This is the first I've seen this, and I am inclined to think the 7sp vari on that dump truck is unusual as well. (the dump truck is not a casting I follow closely, but 7sp were seldom used on *any* trucks) |

Wes, like you i have no idea as to what playset the corgi is from. as you noted they did not put sp7s on many trucks. i think this version also was issued as c 200. |

well Mattel did buy Corgi one time in the 1990s So it shouldn't be a surprise to see them both in one package Also HW did use a few Corgi molds for the Hot Wheels line |

Indeed. See here: http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/7233195/1/ I've only been at this about 20 years, and Dan has been helping me get into it seriously for the past 5 or more years. My comment had nothing to do with the possibility, simply stating fact....MANY of the reconstituted Corgis were used in playsets. This Ferrari 348 was found in the Euro only issues, and some playsets such as this, usually as a solo. This is the only time I recall without looking it up that it has been paired with *anything,* and ALL other Corgi playset pairings are ALWAYS with other Corgi castings (for instance the Porsche Targa with the Custom Van). Outside of playsets, Corgi castings were frequently paired with the Hiway Hauler for grocery store promo issues...those are not playsets, and they are always mainline editions. For example, you will never find the Custom Van paired with the Hiway Hauler...Custom Van was ONLY used in playsets and promo issues (ChuckECheese, JCWhitney). I've been looking for 20 years and have NEVER seen the Custom Van paired with the Hiway Hauler. For that matter, never seen the turquoise Tbird with a Hauler either. But the Tbird shows up in a variety of playsets and multicar premium editions in other paints. But those details, and pages more, are in the link I provided. ![]() |

It does make me wonder what kind of playset would put together these two cars. Sorry for my little outburst...it just gets old being told the same thing a dozen times, like the teller isn't paying any attention to anything I have said before or gotten the hint from my silence. Well, Hot Wheels did own Corgi at one time....yes, I am WELL aware. A significant portion of my collection revolves around this very point in HW/Corgi history. For instance, you collect Corvettes, and seem to know quite a bit about them. I understand, I wouldn't dare say "well, Corvettes are made by Chevrolet" *every* time the subject came around, especially after having been around you here for a year or more. I already know you know Corvettes are made by Chevy because I pay attention. |

Very interesting combo. The NCHWA site says the 7sp variation of that Peterbilt was a 1996 release. |

when it comes to corgi/hw cars Wes is my go to guy.as he stated the corgi/hw are a mainstay in his collection. i on the other hand i only have most of the ones that were issued as numbered blister packs.and i have fallen behind on the later issues. i picked up mine during the 1996/97 run of china cars. for some reason they kept issuing the oversized corgi casting of a porsche. after 2006 i never bothered to look for it. my knowledge of these is only broaden when i happen to pick up some,or when i read a post by Wes. You are too kind, Dan. You are a variation guy extraordinaire. You know subtle variations on castings I've never even thought to look before. I'm not an expert, I've only given a great deal of time and effort into seeing what Mattel did with these castings. Between us we know a little...and still looking for that Corvette set car! |

Which is more than I can say. We knew the Ferrari was out there, looks like Dan finally found one. We both know about the Airport Backpack, I have one of the 5 and let another get away, all others I've seen have been well above my limit. The silver Mustang I watched went for well over $100. But by far the most elusive of the Corgi castings is the Corgi Vette from a playset, and perhaps the color trial Ford Sierra on an unissued number card (which I have seen a pic, so it does exist). The Vette I have never seen, image or otherwise, it is at this point a mythical beast like a Unicorn or Griffin...but so I thought of the Backpack until I saw *one* being sold off. |
