Sam how many miles? I haven't done that yet and I like to know when the possible repair is happening. I haven't had any slipping yet. I heard the racing clutches are great. |

Yep that's about right. New OEM clutch is $275-300. New slave cylinder is $200. And figure 4-5 hours labor. Dealer would be around $2000-2500. |

Clutch wear depends on the driver. One person not knowing how to drive a standard can destroy a clutch in a short time. Others will show little wear the life of the vehicle. The only stick shift that I had to replace was on my uncles (which became my winter ride) '67 Plymouth Fury II. He used to ride the clutch sitting at red lights so he wouldn't roll back into the car behind him. He used to change clutch/pressure plate like normal peeps would change brakes. I am in neutral sitting at red lights with wheels straight and foot on the brake. My Dad drilled that into me. Edited by Hosspower98, Sep 15 2016, 03:47 PM.

I used to hold the clutch and brake in at lights when I first started driving, but I broke that habit early on. The fact I started driving a vehicle with a heavier clutch pedal and also in an area with longer red lights helped me break the habit. But I never ride the clutch and am easy on them otherwise. |

Blown out the clutch in my 81 Mustang and my 86 Celica. At the time I got good deals to replace them. All 3 of my current rides are autos so if one goes out I'll just get a rebuilt and install myself. |

I have one clutch go out on me in my life. It had plenty of material left on it, but a small piece that held one of the springs on the disc in broke off while driving on the highway. Not even enough for the spring to come out, but it threw the balance off enough to make stops and starts extremely jerky. There was also a nut-size piece of metal loose in the housing.
