In recent month I know Douglas, as well as other have posted some of the older playsets they, so I figured I would post some of a relic from my childhood in the early 80's. I don't know the year of release, but recall getting it for Christmas, I would guess around 81-84 ish. I took the pictures about five years ago and posted them on another site, but figured many here would enjoy it.

Stored up it represents a helmet, I guess is supposed to be a Metro style firemen's helmet.

When you open it up, some assembly is required, the buildings are plastic and just snap on to their respective spots. The hill also has to be snapped together.

The left hand lower side is a drill yard with burn building for the fire department, looking back I think that was a great idea and something one seldom see replicated in toys. The platform with the fire and police stations always looked goofy to me, but the detail of the buildings is great. Over all I think the set has great play value, and I know from time to time I pull it out and my 7 and 10 year olds love it, more then any of the newer sets they have.

I like it! I have never seen it before and I know I would have wanted one when I was younger.

Never seen that before either, I like the look of the buildings...everything has to look so cartoony these days, and it does look to have great playvalue.
Thanks for showing this great set from your childhood Brian!

Yeah....I'm again in awe of stuff you other guys have acquired in your collections! That set is unknown to me, as usual. Of course, my 'excuse' is that I lived pretty far away from cities in the early 80s, more than an hour or two drive to the next town with major retailers over windy mountain roads.

Then, in '84, I moved to Alaska......because I was tired of "living out in the wilderness".......sheesh! Fairbanks, a reasonably big city....over 300 miles from the next city (Anchorage).

Brian, I found an old Vectis auction of one still boxed, the auction says it was issued in 1984.

Reminds me of the book-size playsets they had in the mid '00s. Great looking little set! All buildings just look right.

I know the Pierces are mostly yours (Wilton) and the E-350s on the bottom Glen's, but what about the red Ford ambulance and the IH pumper?

Like as adult collectors, I have a feeling as kids we would have enjoyed playing with the same things!

Ok Here you go,

The Pierce Pumper at the drill yard is a CCI done for Wilton.
The Tower is the RWR marked for Wilton.
The International Pumper is a CCI marked for San Luis Obispo (Sammy)
The Pierce in the Fire House is another CCI in SLO Livery (Sammy)
The red Ford Ambulance is a CCI marked for Grosse Point Park Dept of Publci Safety. (Jim H)
You are also correct the two ambulances at the hospital are. CCI's done by Glen and marked for Toronto EMS.

Like I said the picture was taken around 2012. I should up date it to include a few more members of our collecting community like Boone County and Westworth MA.

 Great play set Brian! I really do not recall that play set at all but then '84 would have been during a time period of frequent moves (and the year we moved to North Dakota) so wasn't always staying current on the toys - especially the play sets as there was not the extra money for those goodies. :D
