These old vintage Lesney Matchboxes are what started it all for me. I still have every car and truck anybody and everybody gave me for birthdays, Christmas, payment for cutting grass, or just being a good boy day. I fell head over heals in love with these cars about the age of 4 when my grandma gave me this very VW Beetle. I thought the opening deck lid was the coolest thing ever. I cherished this little car and kept it wrapped in a cloth hanky, my grandpa gave me, in my pocket. I took it everywhere I went until I got a case from Santa and really started collecting.[/size]

I very much so consider this my "ULTIMATE" collection!!!

When I got to be 8 or 10, my great uncle gave me these cars that were his son's. Very old Lesneys. I guess he was killed in action in Viet Nam. I never knew him but I knew these little cars and trailers were something special to keep, and I did take extra care of them. I don't know much about them at all though.

Wonderful stuff!
MB is the one my Mom and Pop would buy me for stocking stuffers on X-Mas. My Pop loved them as much as I did.

 Great collection of regular wheels and a Model of Yesteryear or two. I think in another post you mentioned you were born in 1954 - same year as I was. I, too, still have all my Matchbox cars from that era.

Sincerely glad ya all enjoyed them... My grandma deserves about 95% of the credit they survived. These were cars that were at my grandparents house and never allowed to bring them home or play outside with them. My cars I received, took or kept at home didn't survive...LOL... As I got older I didn't visit my grandparents as much and grandma packed and stored them in her basement some were around 1971. She passed away in 1975 and my grandfather sold the house many years later, about 1990. That's when I found them packed neatly in boxes wrapped in plastic garbage bags way back under the stairs to the basement.. Funny thing was, we thought we were finished cleaning out the house, and a little field mouse ran across the basement floor under the stairs. I looked to see where he went and found my old cars... Better than finding buried treasure thanks to that little mouse...LOL...

I really liked these MOYs, (Models of Yesteryear) allot. My grandpa always would talk me int setting them up on the TV or wall shelf. I know he was not wanting me to play with them. I'm glad he did ...Now...LOL
I had two full cases of them and never could figure why I couldn't play with them...LOL
