So...the question is...how many of you actually ate the cereal? I remember with the old F&F molding plastic cars that came in cereal boxes - I had to eat the cereal before I could have the car - fortunately my grandmother also liked those cereals and helped out a lot.

I ate a LOT of Cheerios growing up. I've got two complete, nice condition sets of those MBX trucks. I like the Model T, grab all the different versions I can find. I decided the Model A was just TOO MANY variants to try to get... |

Those are neat! I never did that particular offer, but I recall doing a few when I was a kid (back in the 60's for me). No idea what they were for though!

My mother sent off the offers for those on my behalf after I was past the childhood phase of collecting.

I sent away for my set as well, fortunately you didn't have to buy all the different cereals, and I loved the Frosted Mini Wheats at the time, so it was all good....Think I even saved a cereal box advertising this Matchbox promotion, I'm weird like that. There was also an Eggo one, not cereal, and a different promotion to the 4 cereal ones, but as I recall they sent Eggo ones to people when they ran out of one of the others, not positive about that, but I thought I read it somewhere, don't have a photo handy, but I did find it at a flea market or something sometime later. |

The Eggo models were a separate promo. They started giving away the Model T if I remember correctly, but ran out of them so they produced the Model A. Or was it the other way around? ![]() The Toy Delivery model was not from any cereal, but it was part of the 24 piece "Collector's Choice" set. Each one was individually boxed. ![]() Finally, here's the Rice Krispies truck: ![]() And yes, I save cereal boxes, too.

I used to love Life and Frosted Mini Wheats.....I still "love life"....but lately I'm into Chocolate Chex and Honey Nut Cheerios. Occasionally I find a comic or toy inside boxes of cereal.....I thought that practice ended decades ago, but apparently not so. I don't buy them for the prizes....like Keith, I sometimes eat cereal for supper.....I just get in the mood for that (I don't usually have cereal for breakfast unless it's granola on top of a bowl of yogurt with fresh berries. I still have a Marx light up fire engine (headlights, which have long since stopped working) that was a mail-in offer from King Vitaman (Quaker)--50¢ each plus two boxtops for 4 different trucks....and I have gathered the Kellogg's and Wheaties plastic fire engine sets that were in boxes back in the 50s-60s....but I never got to keep them as a child.....they were kept at Grandmother's house and I only got to play with them there. Thanks to ebay and flea markets, I have got both sets complete and they're among my favorites. |
