Dollar Tree scores, Matchbox

Monday, while a co-worker went into Staples next door on our lunch break, I checked out the Dollar Tree next door, which I knew was stocking the latest HW and MB cars. I scored a few of the newer ones, the Miata, the Alfa Romeo, the truck with camper, and a small bucket Cat. Most of the other DT's I've visited don't even have MB out, just some HW. Oh well, at least I scored at one of them. :)

There are a couple of Dollar Tree stores in my area but they have Suntoys and recently added Maisto. No Matchbox nor Hot Wheels. Must be a Canadian thing, I guess. Maybe it is because Dollarama, a much bigger chain here, has Matchbox and Hot Wheels. Dollarama did have Maisto but they seemed to have disappeared for now.

That "Mudstang" is an interesting casting, but I'm just not sure of it's 'staying power'.....how many variations/versions of it will they be able to sell? Seen it once, seen it all. (It is based on an actual 'monster' car....look up "Mudstanger" (I think that's what it's called)).

I have one because I like Mustangs from that era....but I can't see me wanting different colors of it.....and since it's based on an existing vehicle, not sure how many recolors they can crank out before folks catch on....

It is always strange to see both HWs and Mbx on pegs at some of you guys DT stores, around me I most often just see one or the other, more often neither, but I think there was an occasion that one store I visited had both, although there was not many of each.

Yes, I live in the Washington DC metro area, and the DT's are all over the place on whether they carry HW or MB at ALL, much less both at the same time. As of this date, the ones I can cover easily, about 6 of them on my drive home, only this one near work has both, a couple others had HW only and older models. Some of the DT's are dumps in bad areas, others are super DT's and very big, but it's this average one that has both. So it's pretty hit or miss, even in this high density urban area I live in, to find one brand, much less both, in the same store. Closer to Christmas, they may all start carrying them, but for now, it's only this one I've found worth visiting twice.

Our DTs are hit or miss as well, but I also have picked up those shown above this past week. Havent seen any Suntoys though. I like the green matte finish of the Mustang, but probably will not get any others.

I might get it but it just seems wrong. Living here in Mud-ssuri we have a bunch of 4x4 Mustangs around here.....
