I used to have a 1966 Ford Econoline to work out of. I started laying carpet in 1972 and the huge rolls were pretty heavy. Combined with the weight of the padding and tools, it made a heavy load. My Econoline had pretty much seen it's better days, but it was all I could afford at the time. It looked good, but had been worked to death by the man I bought it from. The straight axle had plenty wear and tear on it and I didn't know that much about working on cars back then.
With a work load of carpet on that thing, a 12 foot roll hanging out the back doors, That thing was a real challenge to drive. Sitting over the front wheels as you drove seemed a little strange anyway. When you hit a bump or a little sway in the road, ya never knew which way you were gonna go...LOL
Never did crash it though. Made some good money with that ole' van!!!
