Wow I thought too something was different with that. My wife Tina didn't think so. Just read this has been done before, the custom lights and it is known to take away from the value however that shouldn't be a surprise. If that is factory correct the paint color would be Honduras Maroon in 1962. In the '60s a lot of California cars had dealer installed extra tail lights when they were sold and it was a common modification during rebuilds and early restorations/customizations elswhere. The Mako Shark in 1961 was the first time I know they were used by Chevrolet on the Corvette. As far as I can recall Bill Mitchell toyed with 6 tail light designs. And although some photographed prototypes can be found with them in place - none were ever done at the factory on regular production run cars. Supposedly, only one documented 1967 was ordered with 6 tail lights from the factory, but this would have been a COPO car and not a regular production.
