![]() Today is Veteran's Day in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in Canada. With deep gratitude and a big thank you to all Veteran's for your service to your countries. Might be fun if you respond to this post to share if you are a veteran or have family members who are and if they saw war time action. My father: U.S. Air Force - active duty in World War II, Korea and almost Vietnam Father-in-law: U.S. Army - Korea Brother-in-law: U.S. Air Force cousin Ken: U.S. Army - Vietnam (picture is of the Veteran's Memorial in Mott, ND) |

My Great Grandfather was a highly decorated WWI vet, fought in France. Grandpa was 4F (legs) and Dad...I think because of me and my brothers didn't serve. I was in the Navy for one hitch between VN and the 1990-91 Gulf War, so didn't see any action. Niece just married a career Army man last year. Brother served in Army Rangers as helicopter maintenance, I guess his unit was back-up or support to the Blackhawk Down unit in Mogadishu at that time. I work with and for vets every working day, and I'm proud to serve those who have served this nation. |

My thanks to all the veterans who have served as well. Today a lot of these military men come home with ptsd and missing limbs it's horrible. My Dad is a retired major for the United States Army. He is a two time Vietnam veteran and he chooses not to talk about it and I understand. I'm very proud of him. I'm a veteran too but not anything to brag about. An interesting thing my daughter was born in Germany just like me. Believe it or not I served in two branches. The first hitch was the United States Air Force and then the United States Army. I just missed the cutoff for Desert Storm. I choose not to have a veteran's tag on my car because I'm no war veteran. |

Thanks guys! My grandfather was a WW1 vet My dad served aboard the battleship USS Colorado during WW2 along with his 2 brothers, Donny US Army Air Corp and Carl, US Army. My mom was a civilian employee at the Buffalo Curtiss-Wright plant assembling P-40 aircraft. Her 2 brothers served in the USAAC during and after WW2. I spent 4 years in the Air Force, the last year at Bien Hoa AB RVN. My girlfriend's sister and brother-in-law are both retired US Army serving much of their careers in Europe. My brother-in-law from a previous marriage was an instructor at West Point and presently is an Lt. Colonel stationed in Florida.
