One of the castings that I collect heavily is the Audi Quattro (all scales / brands...if you've got some, LMK!) and I thought I had almost all of the Yat Ming versions until I found this one the other day. The pale green color struck me as odd, but I figured it was just a recolor until a friend of mine said it might be a color changer. Sure enough, this one turns bright yellow when you expose it to a temp change! Pretty neat, but on this one, the base doesn't say Yat Ming and I can't seem to find much info on what brand / series / year of these color change versions. Anyone have any info? Which other castings did they release as changers? Are there any more color changer variations for the Audi? Thanks!

Definitely Yatming. The Dodge Monaco and 80's T-Bird were also made into a color changers. |

Thanks, Pegers... I don't have that light blue one. Is it a color changer as well? Is it marked Yat Ming on the bottom? Seems like a lot of them don't have markings. I'm not sure if that means that they were made for use as other brands or just later versions of the molds, etc. |

These are new to me - I do not remember color changers from Yat Ming - not surprising though as it seems like quite a few of the manufacturers had a go at that concept.

Off,i tried to heat and freeze the blue one.it did not change colors.but the paint does seem to be the type used for color changers...maybe mine is stuck, which does happen to most of the changers once they get some age... Yat Ming has made may cars for other brands..the early road champs are yat ming made. usually even if made to put in another company's packages they will have the casting number on the base. keep in mind you will find cars that you know are yats but will not have markings on the base. the give away in these cases is usually the wheel rims. Juantoo3 (Wes) i believe has a album of various yat ming packaging. |
