One of the few GL models in the collection..... just found today at TRU.![]() ![]() Now if you will excuse me to complain a little.....I don't buy many GLs, mostly because they are a bit too expensive for me in these times, but I do also notice quality that seems to be lacking to me for this price-point, I only got this because it is my hometown of Detroit, the place I was born and raised, a city I don't see represented too much in diecast. Of course it was the only one on the pegs, but the police tampos look crooked and the 911 is offset looking to me. Ok I'm done complaining.

Maybe the combination of the angle of the waving flag behind the lettering makes the lettering look slanted down toward the rear--an optical illusion? But in the photo, I definitely see what you mean....it does indeed look like the "911" is starting to tumble off a cliff back there.....maybe that's a result of tampo over the varied body shapes and curves under the lettering, too--you know, not a flat surface to print on. It looks like the "911" should be up above the castline where the bumper joins the upper rear body side panel...in all that wide-open space rear of the gas tank hatch.

Would have been SO much more realistic if this model had been printed with an accurate vehicle number. As is, this 2015 Charger went into service in 2005 according to vehicle number 053028. |

Greenlight policecars are very high quality and they show great cruisers from USA. Thanks for showing this one . I like this cars very well , but itīs not possible to get them all from USA.Not the price for the cars is to expensive , only the price for shipping and custom-service is to much , agrrr.. I hope anywhere Greenlight make the same for european policecars

I am still running way behind on my GL police car fleet so don't have the Detroit car in my collection yet. I know from time to time their tampo strikes do seem to be off kilter. I have a Boone County car with no tampo on the right side and had an Alabama car with the tampo way out of line and smeared (that one I asked the on-line dealer if I could return it and they said no). Did manage to replace it finally. I had hoped the Detroit car would have had their cityscape scene. |

Rather oddly, this prototype model has the "911" printed perfectly. I think when it came to mass production, the concept didn't work out in reality.

If they're going to time travel, maybe they should bring the cool old police cars to the future, like this one. Actually I had always hoped that Matchbox would do one like this with the Monaco in the old Detroit colors and livery, even though I think they were Fury's that Detroit had used in those days,

I agree the 911 looks off, but really am not sure how it sits on real DPD charger. The only Chargers I could find online were the city scape ones that PJ mentions, that said I think the city scape police car, as well as an ambulance would be smart choices for GL. |

That's a real shame yours didn't come out as well... I only have 1 (although I might get a few more for customs) and it's not perfect, but I'm happy with it. Detroit Michigan Police Dodge Charger Pursuit At least they spelled 911 right... flaws and errors are one thing for $5 or less, but I remember the days when code 3 printed plates upside down? forgot to attach parts? interesting info about the fleet/vehicle number. maybe whoever they ran the prototype by hasn't been on the "street" since 2005, and they thought that was about right. GL ought to hire one of us cops as a part-time technical advisor... I wouldn't work for peanuts, but I could probably be persuaded to work for die cast. |

Guess it has been a while since I last found a Detroit Police model, appears to be back in 2016, but now I finally got another, this is also from Greenlight.![]() ![]() Seems Detroit can't make up their minds on what design they want for their police cars, neither of the ones shown in this thread are anything like the paint schemes they used way back when I lived there. This of course it what I'd like to see someone do in diecast, my early memories of the Detroit Police....

I'm in the metro Detroit area as well, and the design on the Crown Vic is the only one I can really recall for the majority of my life (Mind you, I'm only in my 20's, but still!) |

The last Detroit police car I remember on the streets was from awhile back, in one of my visits years back, but it seems they had black cars with like gold police graphics you could hardly see on the black background, maybe they were more visible at night with reflection or something. Last time I visited in 2014 me and my brother only drove into the city once to go visit my moms grave site, but don't even remember seeing a police car there, maybe they avoided that now not so nice of an area where the cemetery was.
