I love how they look castingwise, every one of them. The Alpine is the star, because it is something that is not so well covered already. But I don't think those wheels suit it at all. Same goes with Mustang and Porsche. I think the disc wheels on VWs are much better for classic cars. If they arrive here, I will buy them all but probably do some wheel swapping

I'm in partial agreement. I like the cars, but not any of the wheels (maybe I'll change my mind when I see them in person). I still plan on picking up at least three of them - the two Volkswagens and the Alpine... and maybe the Porsche.

:toy: Great looking series of models. I, too, think they would look better with different wheels.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Alpine! Oh, and Mustang. And I guess Porsche and VWs. :bored: I'll need all of them but I really would've preferred more vintage French cars in all honesty. Especially more Alpines!

yeah, we (some german collectors) were in talk about that on the Nuremberg toy fair.

Wheels seem to be not final (the disc ones..), we mentioned that those new double spoke wheels do not look quite good on those vintage models ...and most models were also not final, as for example the molds for the glass has not been polished, so that the windows look semi-transparent.

We all do not understand, why again the Beetle, the 911 and the VW bay van is done again and again and again. Also by schuco, which also belongs like Majorette to the parent company Dickie.

We will see what the future will bring...

Thank you for the pictures from Nuremburg, mininches. I am most grateful!

Most of these cars are a "safe bet" for Majorette. I'm guessing they played it conservative and rolled out models that would prove popular with Mustang fans, VW fans Porsche fans to get the line off to a great start. Myself, I want a Goddess next year!!!! I'd also love to see the classic Mercedes models. I know Schuco has done one recently in 1/64, but more are begging to be released.

Personally, I would like more realistic wheels, BUT Majorette is not like Greenlight, Johnny Lightning, etc. Regardless, great casting. I'm buying a set!!!

Perhaps Simba-Dickie acquired corporate licences for vehicles. It could well be far more economical. Also, I don't see much Schuco in France at least...

I see Schuco also make the Zetros...

I meant the Schuco 1/64 line, not the 1/87 line. I assume the Zetros is in the 1/87 line...

The 1/64 line is not far away from Majorette regarding size/scale... so they are competing with each other...

Introducing a Vintage serie like so many others makes did is a nice improvement for Majorette marketing, I support them for that awaited choice (If only original Majorette had that way 25 years ago in the continuation of the Deluxe, but certainly to early in that market).

Of course, as a french, I'm disappointed of the brutal decrease of french cars, becoming minor. Yes, I know it is a german company for now but happily, we still have Norev which is far more complete for french models. Observing the number of new diecast world producers these last years, including french new companies, I will not be surprised seeing a new vintage make from France -like upper brand Minialuxe with 1:66 cars last year- in the cheap to mid price class.

As a majority of us have already noted, the wheels are completely mismatched and also oversized. If the price must be kept cheap, nothing stop to create a classic design like Matchbox team did with their winner disc wheels for example. Otherwise, the Majorette style is at rendez-vous, solid casting aspect, working suspension, plastic inserts and opening parts > first time for a 3 inch vintage/first price diecast ?

Other highlight point is the choice of the models, by preference :

- first the Alpine 1300 for a former french make is a reason but not to forget 2017 is the year of the long-awaited re-introduction of the 1:1 brand Alpine at the next Geneva motorshow with a real production roadcar in the spirit of the Alpine 1300.
- second is the Porsche 934, in my memory, the first to present this muscle 911 70s car in 3 inches was Schuco nearly 10 years ago. Hot Wheels followed in their mainline at more affordable price and larger supply. I'm curious about the future comparison with the old 911 Turbo casting.
- third is VW Käfer, Beetle, Bug, Coccinelle, Maggiolino, Escarabajo, all the nicknames for the Volkswagen Type 1 (former KDF-Stadt) studied (inspired/copied on Tatra V570 and Skoda 932) and named for whole people but ordered by bad ones, starting up VW brand, main part of VAG group, 1rst world carbuilder in 2016. This is simply the most famous car in the world -most saled ?- either in the 3 inches diecast world. This time, the model is an early '53- '58 oval one with the Majorette touch, the opening hood. Same think about the former opening hood 1200 casting comparison.
- fourth for the '67 Ford Mustang not for originality but for the scale to compare with the Maisto.
- fifth is the VW Type 2 with same criters as the Mustang. Compared to the Maisto model, it will interesting to compare the rear opening top hatch vs bottom hatch.

It doesn't matter which 'line' - if they want they can make (and agree) a contract with a lot of flexibility. In fact with the Zetros it's made in plastic too.

When you look across all ranges offered by Simba-Dickie to me it's quite obvious they save money on contracts in this way.

Actually Maisto and Welly seem to do it also, but to name a few.

Majorette... very beautiful, and I will be buying as many as I can. The Alpine... gorgeous and great choice! The Mustang also looks beautiful. I am very surprised they did not do a Citroën DS. Porsche is very nicely made but a little boring and the brand is overdone compared to other makers (I do not get the Porsche fantasy... they are just nothing to get so excited about in my opinion... maybe it is a man's thing :( :( ) why not a Facel Vega, Simca Vedette, Karmann Ghia, Isetta, BMW 507, 503, or Messerschmitt KR200?

Lots of nice new castings including the Audi R8. I think the old/current Majorette Audi R8 is not the best (no working suspension?) and so I will welcome this new one... I like the plastic headlights, finally!

I have always wondered the large number of American models in the lineup since the brand is not sold in USA and the real American cars are mostly not available in Europe

Large number, you mean increasing number, especially pick-up trucks ? Well, maybe the new team will is to go back to USA or north america as it is the biggest toycars market.

Now it's understandable regarding the big economic link between Germany and USA, also existing but little considered, cultural and recent historic ties (ex: + 50000 US soldiers being stationed in Germany) between the two countries.

Anyway, all I see is the actual managing team is far better and interested to the reality of 3 inches market than the incompetent former "heads" that acted the mess and the end of the french connection in the last 25 years. My last hope is Majorette keep going that way and maybe in the future we will see a premium range in the continuation of the Deluxe serie 30 years ago

Many interesting points here :

- The Audi R8 1st mk 1 is initially a Dickie casting, isnt' it ?

- If this new serie have success, considering the number of new DS castings (a new Norev for 2017) existing, we'll see a Majorette DS, successing to the two 50 and 48 years old ones.

- About Porsche, well to much of a thing, and you get bored. It could be right for 911 family, but they are so much interesting Porsche to re-do, why not a starring 917, 906, 956 ? (dreaming of)

- last point, but much more important, sometimes, I have the bad impression that teams who decide the choice of diecast have the same analysis that did occur in this business 20 years ago : not taking risk of producing an unpopular car which could be poorly saled. Actually, potential toycars buyers are mostly connected to the net and doing so, world people is more and more aware of culture and heritage of industrial countries for our subject of interest. A customer (first concerned the children) looking for toycars in a shelf can distinguish the attractive bodylines of a car, way more if it's a vintage car.

When you quote Facel Véga or BMW 507, I was thinking the same for years : are toymakers really aware of most illustrative cars in history ? Facel Vega was the last french luxury cars maker ending in the middle of 60s. When you see a Facel Vega, you first think it's a little know but gorgeous US car until you really know his origin. Same for BMW 507, maybe the matching of the Mercedes 300 SL with a streamlined body and powerful engine.

Where are you in 3" diecast ?
