My country has (sadly) opened doors for chinese cars. Among the biggest copies are: Haima 2 (copy of Mazda 2. Pre facelift generation copy). Here's a comparison with the post-facelift ![]() Lifan 320 (Mini Cooper copy) ![]() Needless to say the build quality is terrible. No reliability, absolutely trash cars. |

No you do not! Crash test videos of Chinese cars are scary and will definitely scare you out of ever wanting a ride in one. But give them 10-20 years and I'm not going to be surprised to see them become a force to be reckoned with. If Korea can do it, I bet China can too. Hyundai and Kia went from a laughing stock to some of the most competitive and compelling vehicles in their class in only about 15 years. |

In some cases the real issue is that the Chinese car is based on an ancient platform, like the Cherry (?) which was based on a VW Golf/Jetta Mk.2 platform. It almost certainly isn't any worse in a crash than a Mk.2, but we don't have videos of one of them being subjected to modern crash standards. |
