We'll start off with my favorite, the 2011 Toyota Camry from the Joe Gibbs Racing team, #11 driven by Brian Scott:

Boise State University Broncos, they of the famous "blue turf", aka "Smurf Turf" (FYI, Boise State University has the trademark/copyright on all Division I, II and some Division III athletic fields where College Football is played and the field turf is a different color than green.....that is, if a College wants to switch from green grass or turf to any other color--like Eastern Washington's red turf--they have to get Boise State's permission and license (it's free, just has to receive BSU's 'blessing'....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_college_football_venues_with_non-traditional_field_colors)

The number 11 is significant....Boise State's Heisman-candidate Kellen Moore (now the presumed backup QB for Dallas Cowboys), winningest QB in NCAA College Football history, with a 50-3 W/L record, wore no. 11. He played 5 years at BSU--2007-2011, redshirting his Freshman year.

Look at the detail in the base.....I guess it's expected a NASCAR race car might end up flipping, so you might as well make every side as realistically-detailed as possible?

I know nothing of what diecast companies have licenses to produce NASCAR models, but this one's by a company I didn't expect, and that even our old "One of Every Maker" thread overlooked, perhaps because it is little known in 1:64 circles:

LIONEL

(In the One of Every Maker thread, Lionel got a nod for it's O-scale models.....but I don't know if anyone posted any S-scale examples---there are 61 pages of posts in that topic so I didn't re-read them to find any Lionel references and a search came up empty....)

Well, thanks for bearing with me while I showed off my extensive NASCAR collection.....

That's all, folks.

Lionel does a lot of stock car die-cast these days. Not sure if their NASCAR division comes from the old Action brand or not.

coldpop, good descriptions...I bought mine about 5 or more years ago at a flea market. Has two laser hologram stickers: one on the cardboard sleeve ("Officially Licensed Collegiate Products"), and a second one on the plastic inner box ("NASCAR").

Ah, heck, I'll go take some photos of the outside....

And, that was it. I have not a single other NASCAR "licensed" vehicle, nor many "race cars" other than those by Matchbox or HW or a few other brands. And those non-NASCAR models were more-or-less incidental purchases due to being in a multipack where I wanted one or two of the included cars, but not necessarily the race car. The seller at the Flea Market 'talked me into' buying this model because of it's Boise State University tie in.....though I didn't go to school there....but I liked BSU football, so I paid $6 for this.

You say "Isn't Lionel" but it's got "Lionel" plastered all over it.....not that it matters much, and I've never thought to check out the other still available NASCAR diecast in almost every store, but I presume there are other companies making "officially licensed NASCAR" models, and this arm (?) of Lionel is just one among many?

So, "Isn't Lionel" means not the Lionel Train/Toy company? Or do you just mean it should be cataloged as "Lionel NASCAR Collectibles", not to confuse it with other diecast by the toy train maker?

Anyway, thanks for the additional info. I was originally planning on taking box/package pics and posting them too, but decided not to earlier.

I can dig that, Carl. Thanks again for the info....I was mostly surprised that it had Lionel cast in the base...I have a couple of the Lionel railroad cars (the firefighting ones, of course) and an old pastor and friend had a nice Lionel trains collection back when I was still young. (Oh, wait, I'm STILL YOUNG, as in "b2young".....it is my last name....I'll be YOUNG forever!)

By the way, any smoke from Kenai fires reaching Girdwood?

I was in Kenai back in the late 60s, when the old "Swanson River burn" took out about half the Moose range....

A friend (Incident Commander of the Alaska Type 1 Incident Management Team) posted a lightning map from yesterday's storms.....looks like it's gonna get a lot smokier in AK pretty soon...
