they are far enough apart that you almost can call them 2 different colors.

I have both and didn't even realize the color difference. Never had them side by side I guess.
Must go to VBD to learn more.

Good show!

Neat, I'm not sure I'd ever looked for that gold color one, though my memory tells me that I knew about it.....hmmm, probably seen a picture or read about it before, but never remembered to look when out at shows and the like, although I don't see many transitional Superfast around much anymore.

Yes indeed there was at least 2 shade of the Merc wgn.

A rather large batch got painted white, and when realized bodies desined to be police wagons were missing the two holes in the roof, they were sent back and painted green as #73, not #55 Police version..

With the white as a base-coat, the met. green took on a light tone of green.

At least that's what has been "rightfully assumed". (such a thing?)

I have both and there's a noticable difference.

Transitional are fun for all the variations!

Dave I have heard that about the wagon as well.

I dont think either one is difficult to find,as I have a few of each.

Yeah SSMan, I thinkI heard it from Mick/SMS88. Runs a SF chatroom on VBD.

I think Lesney was know and basically proven to have mixed and matched colors, there are varying degrees a given shade - maybe most.

You can find the RW #45 Ford Corsair's color on the BASE of some SF & 69 Rolls rag tops!

Also, Lesney delt with on outside paint supplier.
I believe the name of that company made it to the paper label "advertising" on the side of the !17 SF Londoner or some similar vehicle w/an adveritzment label.

On a similar note, I heard such projections in manufacturing to be conjecture more than once! :D
Some smart guys that have lived around the factory back then really know some wild stuff.

Sure am glad to find you. Have ben missing the many posts of your amazing '69-'71-sh transitional period cars!
