The Quest Continues
Was digging for the Volvo covered lorry (Michelin) and figured I'd take some shots of the stuff I rarely see. These were purchased in the 1990s if memory serves. Kind of new for my taste, but I guess I was on a roll. Should be something here to enjoy. The last photo (with the buses) includes a few newer trophies (purchased more recently than the 1990s).

The 90s is when I started collecting, so I'm a fan, and enjoyed getting many of those in stores at the time, though I do still prefer the older Matchbox, the 90's stuff still holds fond memories of collecting.

I see you have the Jaguar Police with the roof lights, that is one I never found, didn't it come in a gift set or something, or were they available as singles? Thanks

Hi Doug,

Interesting that you started collecting in the 90s. This particular example must have been a single. If it had been part of a gift set, I would have kept the pieces together. Also checked the logs, and found no specific information on the purchase date or cost. Typical for me at that time.

Here are a few shots. I still remember seeing my first Jaguar XJ6 "Sovereign" (circa winter 1986-87) in Ireland. It had the large, single glass headlights. Similar (if not the same) to the body style of this XJ-6, but slightly different trim for the UK/Euro/Irish market. I thought it looked great. It was parked outside Twomey's Pub in Passage East, Ireland.

Onward through the fog.

Nice stuff! A lot of my favourite Matchbox models there like the BMW 5-series, the Sierra, 300ZX, Astra, Camaro Z28, Turbo Thunderbird, Nissan Prairie, VW T3 and Porsche 944. Also a couple of variations I can't remember seeing before like blue Diablo with red interior. Thanks for sharing.

I also spy one MAJORETTE there .. ;)

I'm looking for the hidden Majo (Where's Waldo?) but I did find a HW Unimog... ;)

The Volvo containers (and soft sides, especially!) would be my pick to see as well. I know there are oodles of liveries I've never seen.

OK ^_^ will work on it later today (July 4). It's now 1:25 a.m. :bored: Got most of my yard work done yesterday. I don't think there is anything too unusual in the Volvo liveries, but I guess unusual is a matter of perspective (if you don't have it, it seems unusual).

Suspected there were a few non-Matchbox after the photos were posted. :duh: Also spotted the HW UNIMOG after the comment about the Majorette, but like you, had not spotted the Majo yet. Was thinking it might be what looked like a 240Z with "Fuji" on it, but just checked, and that is Matchbox #24 300ZX. Then suspected the green Porsche, and cross referenced my list of Majos and sure enough.

Majorette # 247: Porsche 928 with red interior and yellow windows (rear hatch opens), unpainted baseplate. If interested, will take better photo/s tomorrow but that might further contaminate the Matchbox Bay, so keep an eye on the Majorette Bay. :petkitty:

Amongst the buses, you'll find a Corgi, a Husky and a Realtoy.

Is Edocar the same as Realtoy? I don't think so. The only Realtoy (Germany) in the collection is a Mercedes-Benz C Class (W203). The Edocar (Netherlands) is the yellow bus on the top right. Where is the Realtoy?

Here are some shots of the Diablos and the 300ZX. Note the different treatment of the tail lights on the Diablos.

Some military stuff you might have noticed was in one of those cases. Excuse/Ignore the HW UNIMOG. :P

The Rolamatic gun is older than the rest. Believe it was still made in England. Nice that the treads are intact. The Rolamatic was snarfed/inherited from a cousin by way of my mother. i.e. she snarfed his toys when he no longer wanted them, and then she gave them to me. That's my story, and...you know the rest.

p.s. Military is not my main thing, but it's nice to have these pieces. Did these beige/sand paint jobs show up after the Gulf War? Old school military stuff was mostly olive drab, but then the "Schwarzkopf sand color" motif started showing up in the 1990s. Who Knows?

Yes. The Hino Grandview would be the one I thought as Realtoy. In Canada, it was sold as a Realtoy model firstly on a Super Trax blister card.

Interesting. What does your baseplate say? If memory serves, mine is blank. I had to post a photo here and have someone tell me what it was. I'm not at home now, so can't check.

Here are my photos (rescued from Photobucket and placed on Flickr). As you can see the base is pretty void of information save the word Edocar.

This was my original topic on this model: http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/7530687/1

Someone said, "I believe this bus casting is originally made by Tomica for their early airport playsets (JAL/ANA). I have several of the Realtoy copies that come included in Daron airline plane playsets."
