The 90s is when I started collecting, so I'm a fan, and enjoyed getting many of those in stores at the time, though I do still prefer the older Matchbox, the 90's stuff still holds fond memories of collecting.

I see you have the Jaguar Police with the roof lights, that is one I never found, didn't it come in a gift set or something, or were they available as singles? Thanks
Hi Doug,

Interesting that you started collecting in the 90s. This particular example must have been a single. If it had been part of a gift set, I would have kept the pieces together. Also checked the logs, and found no specific information on the purchase date or cost. Typical for me at that time.

Here are a few shots. I still remember seeing my first Jaguar XJ6 "Sovereign" (circa winter 1986-87) in Ireland. It had the large, single glass headlights. Similar (if not the same) to the body style of this XJ-6, but slightly different trim for the UK/Euro/Irish market. I thought it looked great. It was parked outside Twomey's Pub in Passage East, Ireland.

Onward through the fog.

Thanks for the close ups of the Jag, so my chances are better at getting one someday if they were also sold as singles, I must have seen one in a picture of a gift set at one time so thought that was the only way.

It must have been nice over there for the police to get to drive around in Jaguars. :D

What does your baseplate say?
"Made In China" I believe. These early models weren't known as Realtoy until later when they started showing up in packages with the Realtoy name.

This one must be from one of those airline play sets:

Nothing good ever happens after midnight.
I love those Qantas busses! I believe I still have the Lufthansa and American Airlines versions from back in the day at my mom's attic...

It is an original variation. The "Espana" logo is somewhat official, I remember them having it all over travel brochures of Spain in the 90's and 2000's

Edocar used other brands' diecast, as their own, for their home market, somewhere in Europe. Edocar never made diecast themselves, instead outsourcing models from whatever company could offer their product with Edocar on the base. Over the years, Edocar has used Maisto/MC Toy, Realtoy, Golden Wheel, Loyal Bright, and others that aren't immediately coming to mind. They've even had Action/RCCI make race car castings with the Edocar name on the base.

It looks hand painted, doesn't it? I thought this was one of the best looking buses Matchbox ever put out there. The logo is the main attraction for me. Not sure how those chips happened on the left front bumper. I'm having "deva-vu all over again." I know I wrote about this model before, but no doubt the topic has no pictures now, so here they are again.

I've seen one or two period movies that show the cops or MI5 driving Jags. The Ipcress File (1965) is one that comes to mind. They are driving a Mk. II sedan (gold color if memory serves). Kind of like the Germans using Mercedes-Benz diesels as taxis.

Here's a still from The Ipcress File.
