Never been to this fair, although I have been to York PA a couple of times, anyways I only have two of the fair models which I picked up in years past at shows or the like, so not sure how you went about getting the special model at the fair.

Those are neat York Fair Models Douglas. I have the ambulance version but still need to get the police one.

Thanks John, the police is my favorite with the different color painted doors and hood.

Never got the ambulance or the Tahoe (forgive my ignorance, but that pretty green/yellow police SUV is a Tahoe?), but I do have a Jeep, only it's buried in a tub that needs to be reorganized and I don't have time for that right now. And, of course, it's not a Matchbox (Johnny Lightning).

You're right Blair, it is the Tahoe Police, Matchbox had a civilian version of the Tahoe as well, they even used the civilian one for emergency vehicles at times in later years, but the police version had the different bumpers and lightbar, maybe they got cheap and didn't want the added cost (labor) of the lightbar later on.

The Jeep sounds interesting, but I figured there were more Matchbox issues based on the boxes saying 9th and 10th in a series produced for the York Fair, so I guess there must be at least 10 MBX models from the different years of the fair. :D

Interesting models. I like the York toy show on Thanksgiving Sunday. It's in one of the buildings on the fairgrounds. Been going for close to 10 years. It's a five hour drive for me.

Thanks Jeff, I've only been to York on two different trips heading from Florida to visit family in Detroit, kind of out of my way, way out, ha ha, but I wanted to visit the Diecast Toy Exchange, which is why I went off my route. I only had a brief time on each visit, but I could have spent the day in that store, I know my first visit I was in awe looking at all the diecast for a couple hours at least, ended up spending a whole lot more than I was budgeting that day too, but wanted so much more stuff that what I did spend was a compromise in itself.......They are long since gone now, though they were still selling on ebay for a number of years after closing the store, maybe still.

I've seen DTE at York. They have a ton of Matchbox and early reproduction Matchbox collector catalogs.

Oh yeah, I did get a few of those repro catalogs while there, they would otherwise have been quite costly if original, and likely hard to find, so I was happy to add those instead of doing without.

Thanks for sharing those pictures of others guys, I did see yours the other day Mark, before PB stole them away.

I too really like the Utility Truck, the casting was another favorite from my start into collecting in the 90's.
