The Regular Wheels Version was the 10d Leyland Pipe Truck issued 1966-1969. Your version is the SF version of Pipe Truck.

Looks good as a flatbed lumber truck. Well pictures would be worth a thousand words as they say, but I'm not home to be able to share photos of the complete regular wheel and Superfast versions, but I'll try to explain..... Yours is actually missing a plastic piece that fit in those two holes in the bed, it connected to four poles (2 on each side edge) which kept the pipes from rolling off. On the regular wheel model these 4 poles were cast as part of the metal bed instead of being the plastic piece. Anyway, the orange Superfast version like yours either came with gray pipes like the regular wheel version or it came with I think yellow or maybe they are orange pipes, which is harder to find ... I still never got one for my collection. There is also a red truck Superfast version, also a little harder to find.. |

The Quest Continues
|
Was not aware of this one before. The truck that kicked off the topic looks great, kind of how a 40-50 year old working vehicle should. I have the regular wheels pipe truck (red w/ gray pipes). |

No...this morning hadn't had my cup of Tim Horton's and eyes not completely open... it is a Superfast model. The original regular wheels version came with the stakes cast as part of the flatbed - the superfast version casting was altered and came with a plastic piece that held the pipes on the truck. Here is the regular wheels version with pipes!

Yes, there is a Tim Horton's in Grand Forks and Minot - plus I can get the Tim Horton's pods for my Keurig coffee machine - so can make it at home since I am no where close to Grand Forks or Minot just for a cup of coffee (although it happens I will be in the Minot area next week (3 hours north) so probably will have to stop in for a cup or two.

Well I'm guessing you already seen what I was talking about on Nicks site, but since I had taken the photo already, thought I'd post it here.
