Since I had gotten my pipe truck out to post for another thread thought I would show some of the other Leyland trucks from the regular wheels days.

It took me a few years to realize the yellow cab version said Pointer and not Ointer.

As a kid I, like many kids I imagine, had no idea of a Leyland truck from a Chevy, but they were just cool Matchbox trucks that were so fun!

Indeed. I used to think that whatever Lesney was, the men and women who made the little cars had great imaginations. I had no idea these unfamiliar cars and trucks were actually real designs from a distant land. It wasn't until I was around 11-12 (plus or minus?) that I began to realize what the score was. Recall getting American Matchbox models (e.g. GMC reefer truck, Mercury Cougar, Ford Mustang, etc.), and it is hard to put into words, but it was almost like, "finally, something I can relate to."

I remember seeing my first Ford Anglia in Luss, Scotland (1995). It was a big moment.

I do remember really liking the Ford PU and the Gran Prix as a kid, that was probably the same reason why, that they were more recognizable to me, but I didn't realize it at the time, although I loved the play features of the trucks like these, so never thought much about makes and models.

My brother actually had an old Anglia sitting in my moms yard when I was a teenager, think it was a wagon, I don't remember him ever getting it running, but it was neat to sit in while wishing I had a car of my own. :D

Yeah! The Yellow one must have been the "Pointer" tipper. The only Ergomatic cabs I am aware of (in my collection) are ones with the horse box. Need to check my original, 1966 pipe truck.

Here is a couple later Leylands, the Leyland Articulated Truck (dump truck), and the Leyland Tanker, dump introduced in 1981, and tanker in 1982,
right at the end of the Lesney era.
