So I picked up a set of hubcaps for my Bug and the guy I bought 'em from gave me this little bug for free! Fits my real one perfectly!
I just added some details (black trim, lights and I removed the chrome from the bumpers), the model does have some minor chips but the real one does too
Hope you like it :)

Glad you like it! I've been doing a few cars recently and learning to do it better and better. Sometimes you can really change the car with just a little bit of marker :)

If I think of cal look I think more of the blade bumpers or the nerf bars but I've heard people calling these "cal look" too. I usually call these mexican bumpers as these always came on the mexican bugs. Love my 'lil red Bug :)
It did about 2k km every year for its whole life and now I've had plates on it for not even 3 months and I already did more than 1200 km :P Just a great car to drive with!

I forgot to ask, do the hubcaps you picked up from the guy match those of the MC Toy?

Hahahaha, no they don't. It's a set of "rare" Jeans hubcaps I picked up, been looking for a set for a while and finally got 'em for a good price. :P

Thanks!

But now I have to ask, what the heck are Jeans hubcaps? (I saw your picture)

Never heard of them. What makes them so special besides the Jeans? Is Jeans a company? Person? Pants?

Through the years there have been a lot of Jeans edition Beetles, mine is a 1982 model (S704) which came with the normal hubcaps but in flat black. The first Jeans was the 1974 (S761) and it was very popular, because of that success they released a "Jeans Kit" which you could order to make your regular beetle a Jeans. That kit is quite rare, probably because VW released a new Jeans edition in 75 (S744). These hubcaps are from the Jeans kit and that's why they're so hard to find (and stupid expensive). And the Jeans refers to Denim pants.
Here's a link to a site with everything about Jeans Beetles :) https://www.jeansbeetles.com/chronologieenglish.htm

Don't quote me on this but I don't think the Jeans was ever exported to the US, of course there might be "Jeans look" Bugs around but I only know of a few Jeans' in the US, one '95 one in Texas and this '74 which I actually saw last year at a Bugshow in Spa-Francorchamps (The famous Belgian racetrack). Now it resides in California (Said to be owned by a famous moviestar but no-one knows who).
