The Quest Continues
This artwork may capture the mind-scape of the typical Matchbox collecting kid in the 1960s (pre Hot Wheels / Superfast era). Absolutely great image. Never had, or saw anything like this, but it sure looks like it would have been fun. I had the fold-out, plastic suitcase style toy Matchbox City, which was certainly OK (many play sessions), but these paper fold-out roads are quaint. Totally dig it.

thats neat
Would like to sees what the whole set looks like

Only thing I had for playing with cars was a Fisher-Price gas/parking set & a vinyl gas station set
Course the earlier one I had & want back is the Sears parking garage

They were just cardboard, but they seemed quite durable, I know I had years of fun playing with my Matchbox cars on the Roadway layouts as a kid, my memory is of the later ones than what Jeff shows here, but they were fun to put together and play of course, but then they were inexpensive as well, I don't remember them costing even as much as a model at the time, or maybe about that price.

I've collected a couple used ones over the years, since I love the artwork to, and the memories, but it's funny that I still never got any of the ones I actually remember having as a kid.
