Well, I'd always liked the look of the old Chevy trucks, but I think I'd become kind of a Ford guy with me driving them for the last 22 years or so, even though I now have a Dodge Dakota, I'd still like to have another F150 someday. |

How much is too much? I think pickups in general have only gotten bigger, and to make matters worse...cushy. When I was young I thought a truck was for working, if you want cushy for your tushy get a Lincoln or a Cadillac, leave the trucks to *real*, working men! I still think that way. And I've watched as slowly the cars got smaller and the trucks got bigger, and all sissified, and leather this and heated that. So I'm gonna throw a wrench in the works...Ford or Chevy? Neither. Nissan. And even then they've gotten bigger and cushier, and I'm talking about the small one. The 04 Frontier I drive now is almost as big as the old 71 Dodge pickup I had, and with stretch cab and short bed is within a couple inches of being as long as the 92 Olds wagon it is parked beside. |

I hear ya Wes. It most makes me mad every time I've had to shop for a truck over the past 20 years or so, because of the skyrocketed cost, I know it has a lot to do with trucks becoming so popular for the average guy to own as their basic vehicle rather than for the utilitarian purpose they were once designed for, but with that they added all those features you'd find normally with a car, also driving up the cost I think. You can probably still get some very basic Pick Ups, but I don't think many dealers actually stock them, or with very few in stock each year, but when a guy like me needs a new truck for work I don't have time to order one, I need to keep working. All said, I can understand people wanting to own trucks over cars, they just look so much better.

I think Ford is selling trucks now at a great price. It appears that the big three need to move a lot of them. As far as cushy they ride better than ever. All due respect I am not interested in any truck unless it's Ford, Chevrolet or Dodge. Ford preferably.

No probs, Daniel. And I do understand some guys just need the larger size, and I'm OK with that. If Ford still made a Courier, or some equivalent, I would probably like it better. I don't want a truck that requires a step ladder to get in and out of...some guys do and there's nothing wrong with that. My beef is how trucks no longer are work vehicles, they are "just another" cushy car. I'm all for bringing back UTEs / Rancheros / El Caminos, and small pickups like I remember Chevy LUV, and Datsuns and Toyotas and VW Rabbits. |

Well I agree there are a lot of American trucks that are too big. It's ridiculous. They remind me of small dump trucks. However there is a Silverado at work that is so small in the interior that you have to sit at full posture the entire 12 hour shift. |

The Ford Ranger will be marketed in the USA finally. I drove a'91 Ranger for 11 years. I love the comfort of my F-Series. I love all the bells and whistles too. I first noticed pickups back in 1966. I was at boot camp and saw that every other vehicle in Texas was a pickup truck. Texas was way ahead of it's time promoting pickups as daily drivers and not just for work. The popularity took off and it was only a matter of time for the extended cab, crew cab and creature comforts to appear. I am 6'-2" and appreciate stepping up to a roomy interior. 4 wheel drive is a must in WNY, summers make me select A/C that includes 'cooled" seats. I hate reading maps when I travel, I just love my navigation, and my bluetooth allows me to use a phone and listen to my own music without ads and annoying disc jockey babble. The fact that trucks are very affordable today allows me to turn one in for new every three years. That, eliminates the added expense for tires, brakes and other after purchase costs. I would never consider an imported {brand) truck. I am retired and I need what you call a big sissified American truck.... Are you calling me a sissy mister? Yep Jack you covered it. You have all the creature comforts and a comfortable driving multi-purpose machine. Only thing is you need to stay out of the Rangers because your too tall. I was close to buying a 2002 Lincoln LS. It was previously owned and was a 5 speed manual. At the time I was enthralled with the retro T-Bird. It had the same 3.9L V8 as did the Jaguar S Type. But the T-Bird was an automatic transmission only car. The Lincoln was just a bit out of reach and I was a bit concerned about it's history. |

Here is my old 1991 Ranger XLT. Totally re-sprung (the only 3/4-1 ton Ranger in town.) 15" wheels, 3.73 gears, cold air induction 3.0L Vulcan V6, 5 speed, long bed. Awesome clear coated dark green. I color sanded the whole body in 1992. They didn't clear coat Rangers in 1991.

I wouldn't expect a cushy ride from any unladen 3/4- 1 ton truck. I get knocked around in my aluminum (4280 lbs) F-150. Speed bumps and driveway approaches with storm wash are ridiculous,
