Home Stores getting it's next delivery of Coca Cola...in bottles! The darker yellow one has no base and the uneven case load. I am guess back in the '50's when my parents bought Matchbox for me that they thought they were different just because of the colors. :D I am just glad they got both of them for me!

Nice! Well kept after all this time too. You are very lucky to have them. I finally picked up the uneven load at the Gathering last month.

"Anyone want a Coca Cola?"

The soda or the die cast trucks? I would gladly take the truck. ;)

Outside of the Home Store which was made by Matchbox, the rest are HO scale buildings that once were a part of my model train layout (been many, many years since that was set up but kept most of the buildings for diorama/background scenes). I also have some O/S scale buildings that I used on a farm scene diorama years ago that I sometimes use as backdrops for models such as GreenLight and others.

Never seen an uneven load one out and about at shows and such, guess they probably get grabbed up right away, though I do have the even one.

Of course the Home Store is another Mbx item that I'd love to get one someday.

Medic Dan turned me on to the uneven load version.....something I'd never seen in photos or real life.....as he picked his up in ABQ last month. One of those variations I had no idea existed back in those days.....I figured then that if you buy ONE Matchbox model, you don't need to look for another of the same vehicle. I'd guess partly it was because I'd not had too many toys before then, and the ones I had looked exactly the same in the stores as what I had at home.

Now, I'm a variation hound. Mostly for fire engines, but the recolors of many current era models also come home with me if it's a model I already like and have the original release. No wonder I can barely see my collection because it's all in storage tubs stacked up to 5 high in what used to be my collection display room.

:toy: As I noted with the first picture I think I am fortunate to have the two versions. I am sure my parents were not concerned about variations back in the '50's  Perhaps the bright yellow one caught my eye in the display case at the store - the stores I recall where many of the regular wheels came from (Blair will get a kick out of the first one) was a toy and hobby store in downtown Boise and starting in 1960 the hobby store in the basement of the Bon Marche Department Store in downtown Spokane. Both had display cases with the models sitting on top of the boxes for little boys to enjoy. I particularly remember the one in Spokane as the owner took an interest in me and would show me older models that almost always managed to go home with me - and the even load Coke truck might have been from that time. Wherever it came from - I am glad I have both versions. :D

I may have enlightened Blair about the uneven load Coke, but he has driven me crazy by telling me about the MB 29 A Fire Pumper having/not having the door handles on the casting! :P
