Well guys,
I am sooooo very, very glad to announce as of my last exam, I am "CANCER FREE" once again, and I am "PICKLED TINK"...
I must say this last round of treatments of more aggressive tumors was a "LIVING heck" (please excuse the language) but absolutely no other way to describe it.
I had a garage sale to try to make some extra money to cover some of these medical expenses I am left heavily in debt to, and had a customer looking for Matchbox cars. I showed him my Lesney collection of over 200 cars and accessories and he was very impressed. I believe the man had more money than brains...LOL... He offered me $2,000.00 right off the bat. I have to say it rang a bell and for a split second I did consider taking him up on his offer. As I looked at my cars and took a quick tour to my childhood and remembering most of my dear deceased relatives who bought and gave me these cars as a kid, I quickly came to my senses and refused him. His offers kept climbing up to $2,500.00, but I still refused to sell. I definitely know now the sentimental value and memories these little cars have acquired and possess for me well over the past 55 years, is worth much, much more than that all mighty dollar!!!
Those doctors and hospitals will get paid sooner or later and I'll keep my Lesneys...

Thank you so much...I strongly believe they remained in the condition they're in is because my grandma packed them so very well and stored them for me from sometime around 1973 to about 1995. She passed in 75 and I found them way back under the basement stairs when my grandpa finally sold the house in 95 and I was cleaning. Otherwise, they would not have survived my roughty childhood...LOL...

It was so strange how I found them. The basement stairs were enclosed with plywood and an access door cut into it. Very dark back under there. I thought I had everything out and grandpa suggested I take one last look before we turned over the keys. On the way back up the stairs, I noticed a small piece of a dark green trash bag sticking out from the bottom of the very last closed in step. I crawled way back under there and couldn't see nothing at all, but could feel the bag and boxes in it. I pulled it out and went into a slight state of shock... I had completely forgotten about my collection she had made me keep at her house to play with when I visited. A strange gift from her grave...LOL

What a wonderful discovery story and congratulations on the remission. Cancer sucks and it usually attacks all of our families. I wish you the best of health. That $2500 offer did not seem excessive based on your great pictures.

Wonderful news Steve... I recently lost my grandfather to the c word and to hear you are winning the battle gives me so much hope for the future and everyone else in the fight. Seeing what it did to him was heartbreaking. Enjoy your celebrations - I am glad you refused the buyer, your matchbox collection is worth more than any amount of money! And good luck with your medical bills.

May I also bid you :congrats: !

This is an awesome story you have shared. Enjoy the victory lap and we will pray for continued remission!

Looking at all your pics I feel that person lowballed you severely. I have almost all of the ones you have pictured, thanks to my uncle and grandma. I remember playing with them whenever I would visit her house. Memories are truly priceless!!

Fantastic news :thumbup: :thumbup: Very best wishes from across the pond. Your collection is breath-taking - well worth hanging onto. Like you say, some things are worth more to us for the memories than all the money in the world. I guess many of the challenges in life help us to keep what's most important in perspective. Take care buddy.

Life, believe, is not a dream so dark as sages say;
Oft a little morning rain foretells a pleasant day.
Sometimes there are clouds of gloom, but these are transient all;
If the shower will make the roses bloom, o why lament its fall?

That is the best news Steve, thanks for letting us share in your joy, it's exciting news after you struggled through all that suffering and difficult treatments and finally won the battle.

Wish I could see the collection you posted, it sounds amazing, and glad you decided to hang on to them, my old laptop is having problems with web browsers these days, so for some reason some pictures don't show up.
