I recently found about this children's book published in 1970 by Lesney Products & Co Ltd and really enjoyed reading it. I know you will like it too - collecting toys is a strong proof that we are still children inside. For those who don't have and can't afford the book - click on the image above.

I was thinking I had a copy of that book but looking at the pictures I am not so sure...another one of those dreaded memory moments...It does look like a fascinating read. I will have do some searching when I get back from my upcoming trip.

Nothing good ever happens after midnight.
Wow, this seems vaguely familiar to me. I know I had quite a few kids' books like this that my mum would read to me and then to my kids when they were small. This one may not have survived-I remember losing a lot of those books when our basement flooded from Hurricane Fredrick in 1980.

A good friend gave me a copy of this book along with a mint copy of the little orange cement mixer featured in the book (#26 / Erf). Photos possibly forthcoming.

I remember when I first learned of this book back when I started collecting Matchbox in the mid 90's, I would always look through the old childrens books at the flea markets in hopes of finding one, never did, and only occasionally look anymore.

Congrats on your new Matchbox collector item.
